I am convinced my little sister is a physcopath…

Recommended Posts

My younger sister is only 12 years of age and her behaviour gets worst as she gets older , so she’s showed some strange behaviour in the past such as taking advantage of her younger sister by taking indecent photos of her and then sending in appropriate messages. She isn’t left with her phone or any gadgets after bed time they’re put downstairs. She writes in her dairy questioning if my mum and dad ‘are they asleep YET?’ ‘Btw I need to check’ and she writes all about how she hates animals after hurting my pets cat and dog when no one’s looking or been aware. However will pretend to love animals.. I got home this week at around 1am her bed time is 7pm and she was still awake lying on her bed pretending to be asleep What on earth do u do? Am I being dramatic?

The photo thing is really alarming.  Do your parents know about that?  Also, i am not sure how you know what she writes in her diary, but if you are invading her privacy it isn't going to help the situation much.

You also said she hurts animals when no one is looking? Have you actually seen her do this?

I was a kid who was accused of being disturbed, etc by my family at around that age.  So I am seeing both sides of it.

The only thing I see as really concerning is the pictures.  Staying up past bedtime, etc is just normal kid behavior.

Do your parents know what's going on?  That would be the best place to start.

Yes, I'd also discuss the animal cruelty issue with them. Negotiate to responsibly remove all pets from the home to protect them while you consider pursuing a professional evaluation of your sister.

I would inform your parents especially about the animal cruelty.  If they do nothing I'd suggest if you can contacting her school's counselor/psychologist with your concerns.  On that suggestion I will let others comment because I am not sure how that would work as far as the risk to your parents being in some sort of trouble.  I'm just not the right person to be able to balance those sorts of risks -and it's such a tough situation!!!

Definitely need to have a private conversation with your parents, and present all of this information. You need to be clear and cite examples to them.  Then give them time to digest and evaluate, maybe they already know or this is a complete shock.

I would also recommend noting these things when you observe them, if there is a distinct pattern this could be valuable to your parents when hey choose to address it. Until she escalates animal cruelty or exploitative photos; you need to let your parents handle this. for now.

Very good point. They are not in place to get people 'in trouble,' but rather, they are trained to observe and inform and possibly refer to more advanced specialists.

While a school counselor or other kind of counselor is not permitted to discuss a case with you, they ARE permitted to take IN information FROM you.
