My partner and I have been together for several years. Overall we are happy but there are times when we argue about small things. My partner was recently diagnosed as bipolar and we believe this is the cause of our arguments. I feel like I may enable some of the behaviors. Will it be better for us to take some time away from the relationship in order to work on our issues? I feel like if we stay together the focus will be on the relationship and not becoming two mentally strong individuals.

Thoughts?

Thanks

What are the behaviors you feel you enable? How difficult are your fights? What are his treatments now that he's been diagnosed? Is he on medication? Seeking therapy? Have you tried couples therapy to help you in this shift of perspective? Do you want space? Does he want space? Are you not feeling like mentally strong individual at the moment?
