Hi people,

I wonder how to make friends? I'm all alone here in london, where to start? I don't want boyfriend. I just like to have a social life in this lovely busy city with friendly people men/women. I've been here 3 yrs but i seemed to cannot find friends who I can go for a coffee or cinema. I am not shy and I think I am friendly, maybe because I don't have Facebook? But I don't like Facebook l. Any tips and suggestions? Appreciate. Thank you

Thank you will look up volunteering. Meet ups will probably awkward since I'll be going on my own.

Nope. Most people attend Meet ups solo. I have never attended with a friend, this is how you meet others. You need to get out there and meet people. This is why you are not meeting people.

Are you on any dating sites like POF ...not to date , but you can look for same sex friendships on these places as well as partners .

Would you join facebook ? It is a good way of joining local groups .

I used to have Facebook but I got tired of it so I deactivated it. I don't find it useful for my social needs, all I see there are people showing off and I hated that I get to spend my time looking at them. I think I'm a bit old fashioned I want to communicate people through text/calling. Almost half of people on my Fb friends list have my mobile but they don't seem to remember texting/calling. Also if they do, they're in abroad anyway. They're not here.

Any suggestion on what meet ups? Someone once told me that some people here would like someone to date but I'm not really into that. I just got out of a bad relationship. Been single for almost 2 yrs now which is good (followed some advised here to spend time for myself) but then again, it'll be nice to have group of good friends.

Go to the site and see what's available in your city. C'mon girl!! Now, I see why you haven't met folks, you don't put in any effort.

Look into activities you are interested in. Take classes. Some are free. You really need to do some research.

Try meetup.com. It's not a dating site, but a social gather group.

'The third culture kids social group' meet every Friday near Piccadilly Circus. This was one I used to attend when I first arrived and it helped me to meet some people. It's a group of friendly people from outside of the UK looking to meet new friends here.

There's the London International Meetup group, although they tend to enjoy drinking a little more.

There are plenty of other groups on that site depending on what you are interested in. Put yourself out there a little and you will meet people.

Cool. I'll have a look and I'll give it a try. It'll be nerve wracking but will see. I'll keep you guys posted. Thank you for your suggestions.
