Day after neck disc replacement

Yesterday I had surgery or a herniated disc in my neck. I was up and walking right afterward.. Meaning I walked to the bathroom.

 

So this is my second day. Im on Oxycoone. I feel itchy with the bandage and wondering if the Oxycodone makes me itch? Has anyone gone through this type of surgery? By the way Im not required to wear a collar which is nice. I also have a sore thrat after the had to move my espophogus over in order to do surgery.

I am allergic to Vicodin and to morphine. Vicodin causes me to itch.

 

I'd recommend asking your doctor if he/she can prescribe a different pain killer.

I had ACDF in my C6&C7 and the first day after surgery I was super itchy, i swear by Benedryl. If you had a similar surgery, then after 5 or 7 days when you get to take the bandage off and lightly wash it, it will feel much better! I took mine off in about 4 days bc I sat in the sun and got a weird reaction to the adhesive!

I wish you lots of luck in recovery! Mine was amazing and I was instantly healed. I lost almost all functions from the waist down and I was was walking completely normal within hrs of surgery!
