So I met a guy on a chat room and it turns out we live in the same city. We exchanged contact information and have been messaging each other for a week now. He always flirts with me and says that he really likes me. From our first conversation, he told me that he wanted to take me out so we met up one day to have drinks and get to know each other and we both had a great time (he texted me afterwards saying he had a lot of fun). He even asked me to meet up with him again soon. Although he is very nice to hang out with in person, in text he is the opposite. When we are not flirting with each other, he'll send messages like "haha okay" or "yea", basically I can't respond to those. He's only engaged in a conversation when we're really flirty. Overall, the real problem is that he rarely texts me first and he can't keep up a conversation (he never asks me questions about myself, it's mostly me that asks him questions).

 

I tried not texting him first to see what would happen and he hasn't sent me anything all day. He says he likes me and it seems like he does because he wants to hang out again, but I'm really unsure.

 

What should I do? Maybe keep waiting for him to text me? Or should I straight up ask him what he's looking for to see what I'm working with?

Ok focus on in person dates not texting. Texting is not dating or building a relationship. Is he looking for hookups?

Simply wait for him to text. If he texts or calls you after a while, and if you feel that he took too long, then you will have your answer. Let's hope that he texts or calls you in maybe a few days to ask you on a date. That would be acceptable, manly behavior, in my opinion.
