beez78 Posted February 17, 2017 Posted February 17, 2017 I've been with my boyfriend for 2 years. It's been a challenging and often heartbreaking relationship. A year ago he had an affair with a much younger women - he is 46 (I am 38)It was hard but we worked through it and I thought things were much better, we were closer than ever before and he has built a nice relationship with my 9 year old son since then. We get in to pretty constant arguments over the fact that he spends hours at the bar every day after work and spends a fortune and is always 'broke' and only ''stops by' to say hi on his way back to his place. He does spend weekends at mine. I always feel like such an afterthought to him. For Valentine's Day I made him a painting with all of our nice memories on it and he got me a $2 box of chocolates from the gas station. I told him that the gift made me feel sad but I was tactful about it and he went in to a rage about 'giving him ' and hasn't spoken to me since. I do love him so very much. Am I being petty? He is impossible to talk to and when I get upset he withdraws more and stonewalls me. I guess I just need some advice. I am so anxious and hurt.
Wiseman2 Posted February 18, 2017 Posted February 18, 2017 Is he an alcoholic? This is a lot of hell to go through in just 2 yrs, no. How is your relationship with you son's father? You should focus on building that for your son, not bfs. Sorry but I wouldn't want a cheating, alcoholic ahole like that around my kids. Take this opportunity to reflect on how horrible things are. Ms Darcy Posted February 19, 2017 Posted February 19, 2017 Sorry to say, it doesn't seem like he loves you. If anything, he's just comfortable. I would not stick around if I were you.
