The Show "Catfish*

Recommended Posts

I am watching a marathon of this show now and GEEEZ!!!!!

What is wrong with some of these people?

Some of the reasons for creating false identity?

I dunno, it was just a game that got out of hand.

I dunno, just to mess with people.

No I never gave a **** about any of these people.

And why would such a person (1) give their real address, (2) agree to be filmed for the world to see, admitting these things?

I mean I can believe they did it as a game, and/or to mess with people, but to admit it on camera for the world to see?

That is the part I struggle believing.

They sure look sincerely upset tho when confronted by the Catfish gurus.

Thoughts?

There is always the possibility that some of this stuff is faked but even if it's not.. money is a great motivator. You've seen the show, you've seen the hot messes behind the catfish profiles... You don't think they would jump at the chance for a HUGE hunk of easy money? Even if it meant some embarrassment?

Didn't think of that, the money. You are probably right!

Episode I am watching now.... reason for catfishing over 400 women?

It was an *experiment*.

If he hadn't broken so many hearts, it's almost laughable.

There are some real sickos out there. When people like my parents like to blame the Internet for all of the sick crap (gore porn, child porn, trolls, etc) I like to remind them that the Internet doesn't create content, people do. And the Internet is just a conduit so if you have s__y human beings out there (always have, always will), then you have to expect some smut to come out.

  • 3 weeks later...

Somebody I knew and a xbox friend was arrested for catfishing. She was tricking famous people to pay her money. Most famously NBA player birdman. She got off easy in Canada but she could still be sent to Colorado to serve more time. She is going to be on the show Catfish.

Pretty girl but very sick.

It has happened to 2 of my friends..

They are both models as well of doing other stuff but they literally have multiple fake profiles as we speak.

she was even on the news about it , how it ruined her teen years because people were pretending to be her

my other friend had someone make like a legit looking profile of her and pretending to be some kind of

owner of something. people were sending this other person money.

whats worse is they both complain to FB, and sometimes they deny the request to delete the fake profile

even though they are the real person lol.

I requested one of my friends fake profile to be deleted multiple times and they said they didn't

find anything wrong with the profile and to notify the real person of the situation so they can

put in a request to get the profile deleted.

I watched the show too. Binge watched it a few times. But some of it I think is fake now. I mean in this day and age no webcam? Come on. I don't buy it. Every laptop you buy nowadays come standard with one, and I don't want to hear people prefer desktops to laptops that's just more excuses. I can understand the original documentary "Catfish" being real because that was back in the day a bit. I will admit during the days of AOL I was catfished a couple of times. But these days I think it hardly happens. I would LIKE to think people are smarter than that, but I would be totally wrong.

Unchained,

You'd be surprised. People can be pretty dumb. I can absolutely see someone still falling for "sorry, no phone/working Webcam" and if you look around the Internet, you'll see that people still do!

God that's nuts! I suppose it's just one of those things I guess. But wow, I mean like its like people who fall for that "Poor Nigerian Prince" email right? Haha.

Sometimes it's not about brains: "If you thought Manti Te’o was the only one foolish enough to be catfished in an online relationship, then you haven’t heard 68-year-old theoretical particle physicist Paul Frampton’s story.

Frampton, a 30-year professor of physics at the University of North Carolina, had been chatting online with who he thought was Czech bikini model Denise Milani.

The recently-divorced Frampton had met Milani, an absolutely drop-dead gorgeous exotic model with supposedly natural DDD breasts, on the Internet and the two had fallen in love, the New York times reported.

Or so Frampton thought.

Milani waxed to Frampton about he she was tired of her glamorous life; how she was ready to settle down and have kids. And how Frampton was the only man she wanted to do that with.

According to the newspaper, Milani then arranged for Frampton to meet her in La Paz, Bolivia where she was doing a photo shoot. The plan was for Frampton and Milani to then return to Chapel Hill, North Carolina together and begin their lives together.

But when Frampton arrived in Bolivia, Milani was nowhere to be found. She left him a message saying she had to quickly leave for Brussels for another modeling obligation.

But a message wasn’t all Milani left. The exotic super model had reportedly also left behind an empty black suitcase that she claimed had “sentimental value.” Frampton was to bring this suitcase with him to Brussels to meet Milani.

Frampton decided he’d had enough travel and would head back to Chapel Hill in hopes Milani would meet him there when she was finished with her photo shoot in Brussels. So, Frampton, armed with Milani’s special black suitcase, boarded a plane home.

That’s when Frampton was arrested for attempting to smuggle cocaine.

There was no girl. There was no photo shoot. The seemingly empty black suitcase was, in fact, laced with cocaine".

I have a bone to pick with you young lady ...as a result of this thread I haven't moved from MTV today hahahah it was back to back all day ....I was hooked after the first minute , once you see it , you have to know how it ends !!

shocking ....it was shocking ....one had 400 women and notes on what stage he was up to with them ..like if he was about to say * I love you * ....speechless was I !

I love the show.I must say it seems strange to me that the couples that are supposedly in love aren't video chatting, if any of them had been doing that then they wouldn't have been fooled long. The couple of episodes I saw the people hadn't even been talking on the phone, well two of the three "catfishes" turned out to be women so something as simple as a phone call would have exposed them. It's also strange that the supposed guys aren't making plans to see the women or already have seen them before, if you're talking to a guy online and he's not in that big of a hurry to see the girl he supposedly cares about then something is wrong as he either already has a girlfriend/girlfriends or he isn't who he says he is. One of the episodes I saw the couple were living 15 minutes from each other yet never saw each other, again very strange. Anyway most of these reality shows are staged in some way.Anyway too many things don't add up in each case and they weren't doing anything long distance couples do. If you're truly "catfished" with the technology available today for long distance couples then your future is bleak.

I know .... the day I watched the marathon, I didn't budge either! And I watched that episode about the 400 women too.... the guy said it was an "experiment"! I posted about it back on page one.

I can't say about that episode, but I agree with whomever said much of it is staged, it must be!

Just like some of the so-called "reality" shows like The Bachelor, Bachelorette, ugh! Those are so fake!

I honestly don't trust anything I watch anymore, unless is a documentary.

But they're fun I suppose, just take it all with a grain of salt, that's what I do anyway! lol

I requested one of my friends fake profile to be deleted multiple times and they said they didn't

find anything wrong with the profile and to notify the real person of the situation so they can

put in a request to get the profile deleted.

I think it depends on the moderator who gets the request. I know that my ex husband had a fake profile a few years ago. He made one up right after his first divorce and tried to get his first ex wife to friend him. But he used an email address with his name in it...either way I reported it because it was a fake name and he never even used it after that. FB said "there's nothing that shows this is a fake profile."

But yet someone reported me as a fake profile and I couldn't post or message for 24 hours. I had to prove to FB I am who I say I am. Even though I've had the same account since 2007 and changed my name after getting married. I think someone got mad at me in some debate on a random page. Someone I don't know. I called them stupid or something and I suppose they thought to get me back report me as fake? I had to scan a copy of my ID and then show them like two pieces of mail or something and it got reactivated. Some people think my profile is fake because they can only see my profile and cover pic and I don't use pictures of myself as profile pics. Sunsets or flowers or some thigns like that I use.

I have my privacy settings set as high as I can that's why people who aren't friends can't see my stuff. I'm not sure why people don't understand that or those who have public profiles.

I was wondering why we're not seeing so much of you around here lately PL. Too busy watching Catfish episodes! LOL

For me, I haven't seen any since the marathon I watched, need to catch up!

Next rainy day... which since I live in southern cali, it's anyone's guess when that will be.

Anyway, glad you're enjoying (sort of anyway), and yeah I love nev and max too! They're both very cool.

Last night (up through around 2:00 a.m. this morn) I watched the entire 14th season of Top Chef!

Well I guess not the entire season since the season isn't over yet, but the first 14 episodes.

Cooking some great stuff!
