Somegirl613
Wow...so this is going to be long and I apologize, but I'm just so excited!!!! The last thing I want to do is get my hopes up about this one, but it's really hard not to after our conversation we had last night. Yesterday I posted about my coffee date with a guy I went to high school with and how amazing I thought it went, but that I was unsure if it was a date to him or just a friendly catch up. He cleared that up for me and then some 150% last night. He texted me to say hi and see how I was, we got to talking, about high school and dating and stuff. He confessed to me that he'd had the biggest crush on me all of high school and wanted to ask me out, but because he thought I was "out of his league" (I was a cheerleader and hung out with the more popular group, I guess and he was shy and hung out with the less popular people), that there was no way I would have said yes. I told him I wished he'd had the nerve to do it because I would have said yes. He told me that he couldn't believe I'd reached out to him on Facebook asking where to hang out in our home town, and that he asked me for coffee hoping just to catch up, but not thinking I'd say yes. He said that when I walked into the coffee shop, all his "friendly, just want to catch up with someone from high school" feelings went out the door and it was like 16 years hadn't passed. He said he couldn't believe how beautiful I still was after all these years, and that he had butterflies the whole time and couldn't believe that almost 4 hours flew by as fast as it did. I was shocked by all this, because after he had told me at coffee that we're friends and we'd talked about meeting with our sons the next time I'm in town, I really figured the flirtation and chemistry was all in my head. I mentioned that to him and he told me "that was his super awkward way of wanting to see you again, but not knowing how to ask". I told him how much I'd enjoyed myself and that it was the best first date I'd been on and how fast it seemed to fly by. He then said, "Ok I just need to man up and do this the right way, and if you weren't at work, I'd call you so it wouldn't be over text, lol. I'd love to see you again. Can I take you on a proper first date the next time you're in town?" I of course said yes!! And he was so happy, he kept saying I can't believe it took me 16 years to ask out my high school crush and she said yes! Lol, it was amazing. We both said we can't wait and we wish it was this weekend instead of next weekend that we could see each other. I feel completely awed right now, and I'm so happy I got the courage to ask message him. I literally haven't been able to stop thinking about him, haven't been able to stop smiling, and it's the most incredible feeling!! Link to comment
greta96
That's awesome!!! I love that feeling when you just can't stop smiling and feel like you're walking on clouds! There is nothing wrong with hoping, as long as you don't get your hopes too high up. Just enjoy the moment and take it one day at a time, don't overthink, but most of all let yourself bask in this feeling, because it has to be one of the best feelings us humans get to experience Link to comment
Wiseman2
Excellent. Enjoy!
