My ex of a number of years reached out

I was involved with a guy years ago, it was messy, there was an abortion, he treated me horribly really. it was a situation where he was never really my boyfriend but strung me along. Eventually he chose another girl (who made life very difficult for me) who it didn't work out with and she ended up with one of his best friends.

 

Anyway, he wasn't someone i pined for anymore and the hurt didn't feel fresh after all these years, and I was over it. I have to say he was one of the only people I truly I had feelings for, but I never guessed he gave me a second thought so he was always just part of my past, and we hadn't spoken at all. He's randomly liked pictures of me, or me with my friends that my friend posted on facebook over the last couple of years, but no contact. However, he recently messaged my best friend asking how i am, and what i'm up to. He told her he ed up with me, made the wrong decision, should have chosen me, and that he was just a kid back then. He told her to tell me he asked about me. but, the next morning he told he was very drunk when he sent that and to pretend the conversation never happened. he was abroad at the time.

 

He seems to be in a happy relationship with another girlfriend, so surely it's unacceptable for him to be saying things like this, and completely out of the blue (i was astounded when she told me). Is it possible that people lie when drunk? I know better than to think too deeply into it, as if it meant anything he would have found a way to contact me, or wouldn't have taken back his comments. It just seems completely random for an ex of so long to spill his guts like that.

He had a bad fight with the gf got drunk and started doing stupid things, then made up with her, sobered up and regretted it. In a way proof that you dodged a bullet.

He and gf had a fight.

He decided to drink that night.

Sober, the next day he awoke,

And told the girl that he misspoke.

I wouldn't waste your precious time thinking any more into it. My horrendous first ex has tried over the years to reach out to me and I always ignore it. Sometimes people think they have a right to speak to people they've had a romantic relationship at one time despite how it ended. Cause they're curious, bored, lonely, drunk, who knows. X
