Does this mean you're messed up?

Does this mean you're messed up if you can't even afford to buy your own house or rent one because of this?If you were looking for a job, and you have been filling out job applications online since May. And 75% out of the 100 you filled out, replied back to you saying they only hire people with 10 years of experience, which you don't have because for you to have that you would need to have been working since you were around 6+ years old.

And some have turned you down because you don't know how to drive and have no car. You only filled out every application that was in your area. You live in a small part of town and have no public transportation or bus the closet one is 40 minutes away by car.

But, you have also seen available jobs(online) but those are in a few towns over and 50 miles away and you would have to walk there(not a problem) but 50 miles takes a long long time. What would you do? I don't currently have any friends who are able to help me out with this. I have asked and they're all busy or forget about the situation.

And if I did end up walking 50 miles to a job and 50 miles back(which takes close to 16 hours to walk) for personal safety reasons I'd prefer not to do that, as I would have to walk with cars(no sides of road) accross intersection, freeways.

Look for local help wanted signs in stores/businesses. Are your parents bugging you about getting a job? Did you drop out of school? Do you play video games all day?

How old are you, 16? It sounds like you are looking for absurd reasons to object such as "they only jobs want 10 yrs experience so you have to have been working since 6yrs old or are a 16 hr/50 mi walk". Do you want your parents to get you a car?

No they aren't, but I want one. The ones I've been seeing online to apply to have been writing me back and saying that. Not really, because I wouldn't even be able to legally use a car yet(no permit/ license or taught to drive yet). I'm homeschooled actually

What are they? Because if they want that much experience, they are not appropriate for you to be applying to.

That said, stores should be starting to hire for Christmas soon, so there should be shelfstacker positions available.

The ones I've been seeing online and applying to are, factory work, cooking, and unloading boxes(those never replied back) but for the factory work and cooking, they're saying the hire people with 10 years experience. But thanks, I'll look around for ones like that. I haven't seen much online, but those are the majority of the ones I've seen available in my area that's why I've just been applying to all of them.

Who is expecting you to buy or rent a house at 16? They are messed up. You can't rent squat at 16 . You're not even old enough to sign the papers .

An aunt in my family who is 66. She is applying that I "should" because(and I quote her) "When I was your age, I was able to move out with my older friend and we bought our own home."

Well, this is different times then your aunt . And did you notice she said OLDER friend . This "friend "probably bought the house and not your aunt .

You have to read the job description before you apply. It's really annoying to get applications from people who are obviously not qualified and did not read the job description.

When I was 16 I worked at a grocery store bagging and ringing up groceries. Surely there's a grocery store in the area. I also worked at a pet store for a bit. Don't just apply to every job randomly. You need to be calculated and intentional in your job search. Do you have a resume made?

Yeah dude at 16 you shouldn't be worried about applying for jobs and buying or renting a home, like what the heck? You should be thinking about your crushes and passing high school so that ONE day you can get a good job and buy a home. If you want to start earning money now, check out local areas, offer yard work to neighbors, etc.

Like, why are you rushing to be an adult, adulthood isn't that fun. Be a damn kid.

Yeh.

When I first read this OP:

"I'm homeschooled actually"

Your dilemma became clear.

Schooling done by unqualified (and all too often, ignorant people). I am amazed home schooling is even allowed.

I'd also advise OP to try to get some proper education.

At your age and stage in life, you don't get jobs by applying online. Look around locally - help wanted signs, local stores, fast food places - go in person, fill out applications and be ready to meet with the manager and interview on the spot. Any local mom and pop restaurants - offer to bus tables for tips from waitstaff. Any hotels/motels nearby offer to do housekeeping, aka clean rooms.

If nothing at all around, talk to neighbors and offer help - yard work, pet sitting, elderly people might like some help with random chores, cleaning, car washing, etc.

At 16, all you have going for you is your enthusiasm and desire to work and learn and do what is asked. Once someone gives you an opportunity, really do work hard at it and prove yourself reliable and you'll have new doors opening. The smaller the town, the more it is about in person and word of mouth.
