lom
What are some things to do if both people are slow to open up so the awkward silence won't bee too loud on the first date? Link to comment
gp11a
It might help if you go to a place where you can make a lot of observations, like places that are good for people watching. You can then comment on something interesting/funny you see to keep conversation going and that can maybe lead into a different topic. Link to comment

BeeCee
How about choosing somewhere you have been before (or an activity you have done before) and feel at ease? That way, you will be more confident and be able to show her the ropes etc Link to comment
Gloworm
lay on a blanket under the stars, go to a local concert or acoustic jam if you share the same taste in music Link to comment
mustlovedogs
I'm a fan of the observation route too. Not someplace too loud, though - I'm not shy, but loud places just shut me down. I'm sure that's similar for shy folks. You need a balance of ability to observe and ability to communicate organically, so I don't like movies and such. Mini golf, bowling, the zoo, brewery tours, wine and food pairing classes, painting and sipping classes... Check out deal sites, they may inspire you! Link to comment
Gloworm
Assuming your 21 and you even drink. Nothing wrong with milkshake, soda fountain, smoothie or a slushie! Link to comment
