Not sure how to proceed with this...

Long story short my ex and I booked a vacation for a week in Europe a few months ago. We have since split up, she broke up with me but it was a positive experience for the most part, no bad blood. We have talked and although she is flaky by nature and I do have my doubts that she will stick to what she says, we have both agreed to still go on this vacation with each other. We are spending a week at the end of august camping in Iceland.

My question is - I would like to move on and possibly start dating someone new. In fact there is someone in particular I would like to strike up a conversation with with the intent on asking her out. How would I proceed in telling a potential new girl that I'm going away for a week with my ex sleeping in the same tent every night? Do I have to wait until the trip is over to start dating?

I don't know how to advise, but as a woman, I can say that I would not be okay with that AT ALL. If a new guy told me he was going on vacation with his ex and sleeping in the same tent, I would think *big red flag* and walk away. Personally, I think it would be too complicated and a bit unfair to all parties involved to start dating until the trip (and any relationship with your ex) is over and done with

You could possibly tell her that you're just going with a friend but women ALWAYS find out the truth, somehow, so I wouldn't really recommend lying. If you're serious about this girl you could possibly give her the other ticket or possibly sell it. If it's one of those "couples" trips, then I don't know what to tell you. Good luck though.

Ask yourself how you would feel if the shoe were on the other foot. Having said that, I can promise she won't believe you, therefore I would wait for when you return before making a move.
