What's annoying you today? Part 2

I work in a pharmacy.

People want their prescriptions too fast. Antibiotics I understand & have them ready to go minutes after receiving them. But people are on long term medications, wait until they are literally completely out of pills AND out of refills and get annoyed when they aren't ready immediately. Some dude today was pissed he had to wait 10 minutes for me to get his prescription ready. Well, he called it in Saturday but he was out of refills and of course his physician doesn't work weekends so it didn't get approved to the pharmacy until today. Sure, you gave 2 days notice but that's like expecting your mail to be just as fast when you dropped it in the mailbox on a Sunday. Or, someone waits until the day before a trip to ask for refills and guess what- their doctor took a vacation day so I can't do anything about it! Next time plan ahead and don't count on your physician working every single day of the week to immediately approve of more refills.

It's not only the patients' fault. My store fills a lot of prescriptions at a central facility and distributes them in bulk once a day. People don't understand that, so they come to pick it up a few hours after requesting it & guess what- I don't have it! Which isn't a problem if I happen to have it in stock. But if you have a prescription that you take 3 times a day and you get a 3 month fill all at once, there's a good chance I don't have 270 pills on hand at this exact moment. Life would be so much easier if I just had more in stock and could fill everything on the spot.

It's just annoying because if people are on a medication for years, they can look at their bottle and see when they are out of refills and running out of pills. Give it 2-3 business days and 99% of the time there won't be a problem. I'm not looking forward to the holidays which will be 10 times worse with more people traveling at the same time that the physicians' offices will be closed. Plan ahead a little, people! Stop being a special snowflake; it messes up the flow & slows down prescriptions for everyone else! Or at the very least, stop being mad at me when it is clearly your fault.

Two people from my son's school just showed up at the door with a Christmas basket including a giant turkey. Astonished doesn't cover it, but they were evasive when I was like "Why are we getting this?" Then they said something like it's a food drive for some of the families. They were just a couple of teenage kids, so I didn't want to seem ungracious or cause a hassle so I took the basket. But now of course my mind is reeling. Do they really think we're a charity case? Did my son say something? I have horses, yes I know that makes my bills tight, but that certainly does not qualify me as poor or a charity case.

This feels weird. I have no idea how to take this, especially given there were Christmases when I would have cried and been so happy for something like this. But I make an okay living now, we're not hurting, don't other people need this more? I have no idea how or why we got this, because we aren't poor. We aren't especially in need. Heck my kid isn't even on the school program that pays for lunches. He gets to do activities and field trips a lot of his classmates don't.

Ironic that something like this shows up now when I really don't need it, years after when I did. I'm not sure whether to laugh or cry or be annoyed. I think it's a bit of all three. Sigh, time to take this to my local food bank and then go have a talk with my son. Maybe it was just a nice gesture, but maybe a misguided one???? I have no bloody idea.

Women are taking INTRA WORKOUT selfies liek a lot now on Facebook. During you workout? Really?

Oh....geeeeez.

I saw a guy do it. He didn't even attempt to do it in a stealthy fashion. He kept turning the phone, I'm pretty sure he was trying to get the "hot sweat glare".

My neighbors...I think that house is possessed. Every family that comes through it is nasty.

Asked dude to turn the bass down tonight; Could feel it in my house, son sleeping. He told me to get the frick away from his vehicle, I don't pay his m effing bills, he never liked me since they moved here, to me to eff off. I didn't say anything. Turned on my heel, went in. Within minutes, he had one of the women in the house, with the car park closest to the bedroom(side lot) turn up gangster rap music the bass that shook my house. So I called the police for noise disturbance.

I am so tired of stuff like this. I want to move so badly but now I am definitely stuck, and it's better that I didn't do it to begin with - Where I would have moved services for my son would be ridiculously limited. That's not a normal person reaction, that aggression to a civil request. I don't trust these people, like I didn't say anything because I felt unsafe with that hostility.

This sucks so much.

I am annoyed with myself.

My kitty got neutered earlier this week where I discovered afterward that he likely has hemophilia. He bled a lot after the procedure. I had to take him to an emergency clinic where they gave him an IV of saline & monitored his blood volume in case a blood transfusion was necessary. Fortunately, it wasn't.

So he has to wear a cone on his head for a few days now. He has long fur & the fabric around the cone keeps getting caught in his knotted fur. My stupid self decided it was a good idea to cut the knots out of his fur and I accidentally cut into the skin on his head behind his ear. It's barely bleeding at all, but it looks kind of deep & it's 10pm & I'm afraid that it will start bleeding overnight. This was so dumb. I can't believe I did that. I'll stay up for a couple more hours to watch it and set my alarm to go off every couple of hours tonight to look at it. I'm just so completely mad at myself right now. That was seriously so dumb.

I got these special grooming scissors for his long fur. I'm never cutting his fur again.

I called the emergency clinic where he stayed earlier this week. They said since it's not really bleeding they probably wouldn't even do anything at all; not even stitches. I'll call my regular vet Monday & see if antibiotics would be a good idea to keep it from getting infected. I'm feeling a little better now. It's been about a half hour & it hasn't bled. I just feel so bad; he's had such a rough week.

I hate that I have to pay out of pocket for my son's eye exam because we have such bad luck with in-network optometrists. It's so frustrating, because I do know he had mild astigmatism in both eyes at 7 months, which at the time didn't require any corrective lenses, but it may now. And they said get him checked when he's 3 again, I'm trying...They're trying...I can't even get mad at them, really. It's not like they're rude it's just the exam is very difficult to do with someone who is doing everything they can to avoid eye contact. So I'm taking him to my old eye doctor next week. At least it is only the exam, if he needs corrective lenses I would take it elsewhere to have it filled.

I get you. I really do . Early eye and dental exams with R were a nightmare. We were lucky though his need for glasses came when he had more self control. I think he was about 9.

My old eye doctor has so much patience and a very gentle personality. One of his twins has special needs, so I know he'd try for 2 hours if we had to..He already asked me a lot of questions on the phone about M's eye contact and sensory concerns so we can figure out how to get things done. In that respect, I'll gladly shell out the money. It just bugs me that we can't just go somewhere, you know? But this is how it is, that's why they have lists of ASD-friendly docs on the internet, right?

At work today (in a pharmacy) a patient came to pick up a prescription for their child. The kid got the same prescription a few days prior for an illness, but vomited shortly after the first dose (after all, the kid was sick). We told them to give the dose of medication again, but as a result they didn't have enough of the medication to complete the full course. Got a new prescription from the physician, but insurance won't cover the same drug for the same patient in a short period of time. I called the insurance company to explain the situation and ask for an override so the parent doesn't have to pay the full price.

Me: (explaining the whole situation to the insurance)

Insurance: So you're asking for an override?

Me: Yes

Insurance: What is the override code?

Me: I don't know what codes you use?

Insurance: We need the code to override it

Me: Well what codes are there? Maybe I'll know it when I hear it

Insurance: I can't tell you that

Me:

I understand why they wouldn't cover it if the patient was careless & lost the medication. But it's not exactly that insane to think that someone taking a medication for an illness would vomit after a dose due to said illness. Isn't this what insurance is for?

Also, I hate the new year with all of the insurance changes & hundreds of dollars in deductibles that people have to pay. An elderly patient came in to pick up prescriptions for their spouse, and I saw that one of them was a couple hundred bucks. I asked for an insurance card to run it for them, and they said they somehow didn't realize they weren't signed up for insurance any longer. They actually paid over $200 for a one month supply of a medication. It twisted my gut a little. I feel so bad for elderly people on a fixed income who are taking all of these medications (some not available as generic) and are just paying a crapload of money each month. It's just not right.
