I actually don't care to go out for Valentines Day. Maybe celebrate the day before or after. .stay home with take out Chinese.

It's been years since I went out on V night with a guy. Even with a reservation, we waited for over an hour for our table. It was too crowded to sit in the bar. The place was full of young kids, tight dresses and corsages. I felt like I crashed prom night. It was actually a little miserable.

My new guy friend is really excited about V day and has made all sorts of secret plans. .I am going w a smile on my face. .maybe a tight dress. . that's still tbd

I know I will be thinking of my girl friends night. .and wishing I was there.

ohhhh come and tell us what happened ...well not all of it hahahahaha eeeek

I don't have any plans for Valentine's Day. Was thinking about making the 2 hr drive to see my parents, but I know mom likes to go out to eat and not sure where to go for dinner where it won't be crowded.

Going to Disneyland on Sunday with some friends (so that is something to look forward to). Gonna be warm and probably crowded (since it is a 3 day weekend here for a lot of people).

Was out at the mall today to pick up a new iPad and some panties. Victoria's Secret was full of guys who were shopping for their SO and they looked like they had no idea what to buy. Interesting.

look lonewing ..you write on here and you get us all ...hahahahahahaha

Korea has been nice...a couple more months and hopefully I'm on real land again ,though!!

There's a club restaurant here where I have a steak on Saturday night. and then, there's this band that plays 3-4 sets and they are really quite good. They're a cover band, but they play so well, that it's a real a treat. The girls kill it on Heartbreaker and All About the Bass and I Have Nothing, and then the guys light up with everything from rock to country. The guitar player, he'll pull up with a surprise Unchained Melody or such here and there, with a voice that just knocks every lady to the floor.

I'm getting too Feral to really work for another other person anymore. Like, some people I know pulled up here and invited me to join them for dinner, which I did, but I was still my independent flyer even in their company.

There's this girl who I have discovered lives a literal 40 feet from me, but...I could not imagine being chained down to another person right now, they would be so pissed at me for my living habits! No logical human being would put up with my antics at this point, whereas I go to work, I then come home and go to bed when I want and get up when I want to do the week all over again.

I've really sort of become Mr. Dog...even if I'm really more of a Cat...

I'm a very bad tourist.

I looked around the city a bit, and I went up to Seoul, but, well, I'm a terrible tourist. History, view, they're all lovely, but it all runs together. I've taken a disconnected approach to the local area itself, whereas I prefer not to leave roots here, or have more friends I will never see again. And I won't volunteer at the orphanages, only because I think it's cruel to be there for kids and to then disappear as I will have to do when my tour ends. As for connecting with the local people, well, I do believe it takes six months before you really start learning about the people themselves beyond that simple façade we put on for everybody. I don't want a Korean wife - I don't want to take her out of her country when I have to return to the states, even if she wants to go. To put that much distance between a woman and her family is simply too much for me to ask of anyone.

So I enjoy myself, between work, and do whatever I wish to do. I've been spending a lot less money living this way, though, so there's really a good side to this simpler life.

I never looked at it like you just described and it actually makes sense ..I guess because I have never been anywhere for longer than a holiday ..well apart from been posted out to germany in the army ...but hey thats just accross the water ... so I can see how the simplistic life means you leave with no baggage and no heart break in any area .

I would however of been the tourist from hell hahahah mainly photography wise , I AM that person with a camera taking everything ..and I mean everything .

Something about the internet has taken away the value of photography for me. If I want a good picture of Seoul, there's a million on Google. And just about every site in the country, for that matter. While there are quirks to the buildings, to the way they build things [three stories, with shops in the bottoms, clubs in the middle, and I presume living quarters on the third, and with their residents mostly living in high rise complexes that are walls of blocks on the horizons with the land between being small farms, it's really nothing more than people making a living just like they do anywhere else.

They do have an amazing subway system. I envy this much. The lack of sewage treatment systems, though, means Korea does not smell very pleasant. Even when it rains.

I quit drinking years ago, and clubbing, I'm not a single night kind of guy... Eh. Tourism is a waste on me!

But I'll be getting gout in these next few weeks to see more, just to be sure I've seen what I need to see.

I know what you mean about that.

Since it waited to be 40 below during my three day weekend, my V day is going to be a nice lower key dinner with some friends and maybe a few drinks. Probably some video games and lots of laughing.

No one to cuddle this year but oh well...

I know what you mean about the photography as well ...but for me I still feel that buzz when I get a beautiful shot no matter that there will be a million of them on google hahah .

Hong Kong had a bad smell going on ..I can't exactly explain what the smell is/was but it was nasty ..and I guess it was pretty much as you are describing ..the toilets had just open buckets for the ladies to put their sanitary things in and it used to make me gag ...(sorry for explicit details here) kind of makes you realise just what a luxury is !!
