I have a problem with direct x

Hii I'm new to this and well I'm a total noob I don't even know if I chose the right topic but well I can't play many games without direct x and every time I try playing a game it tells me there's an error and so I tried re installing DX but it said a cabinet file didn't let me and so I searched up ways to fix it and I tried all the things I saw but I'm still having the same problem either there's something wrong with my computer or I'm just an idiot please help!
