Been MIA- health problems and tons of doctors appts. I kinda blew the eating last week cause of a lot of stress- I'm in a new relationship and needless to say it's affecting me. I am trying to get on track again. I've flat out overwhelmed.

Sounds like you are all doing fantastic!

My coworkers had pizza and burgers for lunch. I had the rest of my green smoothie, and a banana. I also went for a walk around a marsh by my office building. It's a lovely sunny day. I am feeling quite a bit better than I was this morning. I've been way more focused at work and can kind of feel the brain fog lifting.

The chia pudding, I was expecting it to be more like tapioca and not crunchy. I just did almond milk and some vanilla extract.

That is awesome! It takes strength to hold back when those around you are eating foods like that. Way to go!

I’m actually kind of jealous. I’m jonesing for the gym now! I went for another walk after work, downed my green juice. I kind of broke my husband's heart by telling him that the dried fruit and nut mix he bought is packed with calories and sugar. He was eating it like popcorn and I know how hard he is trying, so I had to tell him. We are donating that bag to the work snack cupboard. My other co-worker had DQ as a late lunch and was eating the ice cream at her desk. I had to turn away... LOL. I felt a little better when they all had heartburn and felt like they over-ate and I was full of nutrients.

Instead of a vacation for 2 years...I had basement redone with the vapor lock/ fake wood floor and set up a gym. Bonus was sinuses cleared up as well because of elimination of mold/mildew...old house.

Sadly....no more excuse for not working out!

Nice -- I love this!!! I prefer working out at home, too.

Just to check in: Had a rough day yesterday, diet-wise. I stayed on track but I was craving food much of the day. Finally gave in and made up a chocolate-peanut butter frozen banana ice cream...... really weird day.

How it went was: 1 quart orange/grapefruit juice for breakfast.... 1 smoothie and 2-3 bowls cabbage soup during the day...... berry-romaine smoothie for dinner...... vegan "ice cream" for dessert. Snacks were raw cashews and spicy roasted garbanzo beans.

It was just a day of Voracious Ravenousitis. I did get my workout in, though. And I have to say, on waking up this morning, I was kind of shocked with how much of a difference I saw in the mirror.

I'm still afraid to ruin my progress by taking measurements yet, as I've been in a pretty happy place so far. On the other hand, I'm getting more curious to see how close I am to my goal. But I've definitely made a lot of progress -- and I'm really glad for it, because I was starting to feel sorry for myself for not going out at all and sacrificing ALL FUN to stay on track with this diet plan. I've been telling myself that for these three months I'm going to be like a caterpillar in a cocoon, working to reach my goal and drop ALL the weight I've put on since my shoulder injury..... I know it's possible, I've done this kind of thing before. Three months is plenty of time. I just need to stay on track and keep working out.

Glad to hear that everyone is still on track. I've been feeling pretty ill the last few days. I've had "something" lurking around for a while and it finally came out in full force. Now I've got a throat infection. You'd think that actually might help towards weight loss but I've felt too ill to prepare anything so I've just grabbed whatever's been at hand and whatever has been easy. It will have definitely affected my weight loss but I don't know to what extent. Hey ho! There's still plenty of time to get fit and healthy for summer! I'm starting to feel better now so I plan on getting back on it!

Keep it up everyone!!

Sorry you’re not feeling well, a little blue. Try cutting up a bunch of veggies at once to have them on hand when you’re couch bound. Or if you can get someone to bring you some precut veg, that’s even better The more vitamins you get the more quickly you’ll get better!

Feeling AH-mazing today! I slept through the night, and deeply too. Instead of laying in bed wishing I could sleep in, I got up and showered, weighed myself (down 4 lbs!) and am now having a breakfast of plain yogurt with pineapple and chia, and some green juice. I feel like I could take on the world right now!!

I'm back

I managed to ALMOST maintain my weight while post surgery downtime was being unwillingly experienced. I gained about a pound or so. MIL was cooking for the family the whole time, so I'm shocked it wasn't worse. I can start working out again Friday according to the doc. Started back into my normal eating (veggies and lots of 'em) yesterday, so hopefully between restarting and jumpstarting exercising again, I can hop back on this wagon. Walking just isn't the same as a solid workout, though it did help a bit.

I currently have chick peas soaking to make Falafel for the next couple days. I'll let you know how it turns out, I'm just going to throw stuff together as usual But this time I'm going to try that white bean and yogurt sauce that's supposed to be so good to go with it. I'll pick up some greens like baby kale tomorrow, planning on serving it on WW tortilla with some pico de gallo, the sauce, and kale.

So happy to see this thread still going strong, it'll inspire me to get right back on track!

Good to see you back!

Quick check-in: yesterday was 1 quart orange/grapefruit juice..... chocolate smoothie and cabbage soup...... Shamrock Shake and raw cashews for dinner.

The shamrock shake smoothie is AWESOME!!!! Frozen bananas + almond milk + cashews + mint extract + spinach + ice cubes + maple syrup.......... OMG, best shake ever! My son loved it, too. Way better than the McDonald's, which has 85 ingredients I hear.

I was struggling yesterday and need to have something other than cabbage soup today, not sure what -- probably salad. I'm also making up some kale chips. I need to SNACK.

Hey folks!

Glad to see that everyone is still on track.

redrose: Ride through it, you're doing AWESOME!

Mesemene So glad you're back! Getting back on track is what I need to do right now too! I could quite easily give up right now!

Well, it's that time of week again. It's not good news, I'm afraid. I don't know what on earth is going on with my body. If anyone has any plausible explanation I would love to hear it because I can't think of one ....

So, I lost 3lbs the first week and 2lbs the second week. Ridiculously (or should that be not-so-ridiculously) I managed to put on 3lbs from one meal. A group of us went for a Chinese meal for a friends birthday and I was easily cajoled into joining then on every course. The soup I had too start off with I now know most likely contained starch to thicken it up. The plum sauce I had with my duck was excessively sugary (so too the sweet and sour sauce). Most of the hors d'oeuvres were deep fried. Add noodles, rice and dishes with high calorific sauces to the mix and it is easy to see why I was able to gain in one sitting what had taken me a week to lose. Next time I will be missing out on several courses because, to be honest, I felt uncomfortable to the point of it not being enjoyable long before I even got the the main dishes!!!

Anyway my mission this past week was to lose what I had managed to put on which I didn't think would be too hard. Then I fell ill with what I thought was a throat infection and it threw me off course.

Since my last post I got worse worse and it wasn't just my throat that was sore, it was my whole mouth ... cheeks, tongue and the roof of my mouth. It has made it virtually impossible to chew anything. (I am on medication now and beginning to feel better, thankfully).

Although I didn't think I would actually gain anything due to the fact that I couldn't really eat much, I knew I wouldn't lose anything either due to the nature of these foods ... mostly bread (nice and soft), soup (nice and liquidy) and porridge (nice and mushy). However, I didn't have any energy to prepare or cook anything so the soup I had was canned soup (albeit low in fat).

So it is with some disappointment that I have to report that I have PUT ON 2lbs!!! How? I've barely eaten!! I am virtually back where I started. Aaaaw!!!! Grrrr! Explitive, explitive, explitive!!!!

Now, it COULD be my scales See when I first got on them this morning it gave me some ridiculous reading .... 90lbs I think it was (6st 6lbs)!!! Now obviously I knew that was wrong so I moved the scales and noticed that one of the rubber feet had worked itself lose and wasn't positioned properly. I tried putting it back but the fitting seems to be broken. Anyway I put the rubber foot on the ground and positioned the scales on top of it (it was positioned where it should be) and then I weighed myself.

Reading: 145lbs

Weight gain: 2lbs (5lbs overall)

My daughter weighed herself and noticed that she also weighed an extra 2lbs so her response was "the scales are obviously not working". Perhaps, though, they weren't working at the very beginning and I've weighed 2lbs more than I thought I did. Perhaps they really aren't working properly now and I haven't gained anything. Perhaps the reading is correct and I have gained 2lbs although I haven't eating much at all. I really don't know.

What I do know, however, is that I am going out to buy some new scales later.

Then I will start right from the beginning again!!!!!

I shall be giving that a go.

I think we are all bound to have our struggles. Mostly though you are doing fabulously!!

Weigh in...body fat stats...lost a half percentage of body fat while holding on to muscle mass!

Wahoooo!

Good for you!

Everyone is so inspiring!

I so feel like giving in to my cravings right now. My frame of mind right now is .... "well, seeing as I'm back to square one, maybe I should forget it this weekend and start again on Monday". Maybe my body is telling me it needs more substinance to help fight this horrible infection, IDK. Reading all these success stories is helping me stay focused even though I feel like I haven't got anywhere. I don't want to give in. There is still plenty of time to get to my goal weight!

Sweetie, I know how hard it is to be sick and worried about gaining weight. Aside from wanting to comfort eat, there's the inability to exercise. It just sucks!

I think you should just be easy on yourself right now. Eat what you feel like -- try not to go too crazy -- and consider making yourself some diet approved snacks. For me, it's "ice cream" I make in the blender with frozen bananas, peanut butter and cocoa. Chocolately, rich, and legal to have as much as you want.

Another quick fix: combine 2 teasoons coconut oil, 3 tablespoons cocoa powder and 2 teaspoons agave or honey for INSTANT FUDGE. This has gotten me through many an ugly moment.

Also, give that Shamrock Shake a try -- the mint makes it SO delish!! Cool and sweet and creamy. My son and I have been scarfing them down.

But really, I think when you're sick, it's good to keep the big picture in mind. You can fall off the wagon -- in moderation -- and get back on WITH A VENGEANCE when you're feeling back to 100%. I also don't use scales, I only go by the tape measure, because I don't trust them! And I know how your whole mood can change based on the number.....

Now, having said ALL OF THAT, I'm giving myself permission to stray a bit yesterday and today because over my birthday I've been feeling too sorry for myself turning down invitations to celebrate. I'm trying to keep it under control, though. I had skinny margaritas last night and tonight I got to pick the restaurant so I chose Japanese and will have vegan sushi rolls and seaweed salad for a splurge.

Anyhow, I'm claiming birthday immunity for the day and will get right back on the wagon tomorrow. Oh and I went and ordered myself a spin bike as a present this year -- woo hooooo!

Keep it up, everyone!

I figured after the mention of chinese food I'd post this:

link removed

Last time we had chinese, I was thrilled to find two of my faves are on the not so bad side of things - Moo Goo Gai Pan and veggies in garlic sauce But... the sodium can promote water weight gain anyway. And us ladies tend to have a bit of normal flux with our monthly cycling.

Don't give up on yourself, little.

Thanks guys!

Oooh the fudge sounds yummy!

I will definitely be giving the Shamrock Shake a go. The mint sounds interesting. I have a bit of a thing for mint. I even put it in my salads sometimes.

You also have my permission to stray for your birthday. If anyone deserves birthday immunity, you do sharky! Oh and happy birthday btw!

I actually did some research after my meal too. My favourite dishes aren't too bad either to be honest .... I just happily went along with everyone else's choice too! I will know for next time!

I wound up doing Chinese on Sun nite as well --- it is bf's default dinner of choice.

And I think the starch, as well as the sodium....makes you retain water. There is no way to gain 3 lbs from a meal. Unless you ate 10,000 calories!

I knew the weigh in was coming, so I did a full day of fasting/liquids to flush my system....and got the water weight out.
