Not sure how concerned I should be

Recommended Posts

I have been a smoker for four years. Lately I've been really stressed and so I have been smoking more than usual. I noticed two nights ago that my throat began to ache, and so I stopped smoking for the time being. Just today I checked out my throat in the mirror and there are white patches all over one tonsil.

I looked it up and it's most likely tonsillitis, but you just never know. I haven't had a lot of symptoms that would indicate it's anything worse. Sore throat, trouble swallowing, white patches and my ear has been aching every couple hours for a few minutes...

What do you suggest I should do? Get it checked out or wait it, gurgle some salt water and see what happens by next week?

Sounds like what I had few months ago. Strep throat.

If this persists, i suggest you get in to see a doctor, soon. It is very annoying- hard to swollow. Temp can accompany this & you just feel like crap- even food tastes wrong & hard to swollow & talk.
