lizhiyong123
I'm in a long distance relationship at the moment and I recently discovered my partner on a dating app (can also be used to make friends) when we agreed at the start of the relationship that we wouldn't use anything of the sort, which felt like a massive betrayal of my trust. I sent a message on whatsapp asking them what it was all about as I didn't want to assume what they were using it for. They started typing and then stopped. I was drunk at the time when I found out and so my emotions ran a little high and I sent a few messages too many, one saying that things were over out of anger. The next day I composed myself and wrote a short email basically saying that things weren't over between us but we'd need to talk it over and that I wanted to work it out. It's now been a week and a bit since we last communicated and I'm not sure what the silence means. I don't know if it means that things are over or not; I don't know where I stand in the relationship, where I have made my stance clear by the email (to which I also received no reply). They still have me on whatsapp, facebook, and skype and I'd think if they wanted to end it they would have by now and just said? Perhaps they're unsure what to do or are still thinking it over? I just wish they would tell me if they needed time to think so I'm not left in the dark. I can't fathom the silence and the worst part is I didn't do anything wrong. I feel it would be immature of me and uncaring to walk away from this relationship without talking things over face-to-face because then least that way if I do have to walk away I can do it knowing I tried to fix things. I'm due to return home next week and plan on discussing it face-to-face then to better understand the whole situation and relationship. What should I do until then? Should I remain as I am and not contact them until my return home? I'm afraid the silence if it prolongs will end up damaging the relationship. When is it an appropriate time to start getting back on communicative terms? Any help or comments are greatly appreciated everyone Link to comment
savignon
It sounds like the other person has walked away from the relationship and that's damage you can't control. I'd take their silence to mean they don't want to discuss it and start moving on. You can't force him/her to discuss it with you or meet face to face. You can only move on. Ms Darcy
I don't see the silence damaging the relationship. I see no relationship if there has been no contact for a week. I feel like he has walked away. Link to comment
lizhiyong123
I have stuff of theirs and vice-versa so we will have to meet in person at some point but I feel you're right in what you say. A week is a long silence especially since there's been no explanation to say why. I'll have to start moving on. Link to comment
shelty24
Why do you want to work this out? Why would you want to be with a cheat. Post the stuff back or just toss it in the garbage. Move on Link to comment
