On tuesday i'll be heading to europe well, bosnia & croatia, reason I have family there, and my grandma past away, so i'm going there to pay my respects, and see my family. Last time I was there was about about 11yrs ago. Heres the thing I don't speak the language (tho i'm going with my dad and he speaks), I have anxiety and all that even tho i'm taking meds, i'm stressed abit, and anytime I have gone anywhere I have been MISERABLE.......I HATE TRAVELING, there is not one thing about it that I enjoyed, every time I wen't somewhere I had a awful time, when I wen't back there 11yrs ago, wow was it ever depressing.

Luckly its only 2 weeks I wanted to stay less then 1 weeks but no my folks won't have it 2 weeks or more since it cost so much for the tickets. My question is it possible to make the trip go by faster when your miserable ? In the end I guess I wanted to whinny and b******* some more to get it off my chest, and see what others have to say.

Thanks everyone

Wow!

Bosnia and Croatia have changed beyond all recognition within the past 11 years; in Europe they're regarded as very, very desirable holiday locations! One of my nephews has just come back from Croatia and is pining to get back there - he absolutely LOVED the place. He's a little bit younger than you but essentially of the same age group. And your experience has the potential to be even better than his because you'll be with someone who actually speaks the language! And with a bunch of people who know the area, rather than stumbling around and feeling your way in a strange culture - which can be very anxiety-provoking.

Sorry to hear about your grandmother, and I hope that aspect of it isn't too depressing, but this has the potential to be the experience of a lifetime! Go, and treat it like one!

It looks like your going anyway, make the best of it. Time with your family may not be for everybody but when you get kids, sometimes it helps to wonder where they got certain traits and/or what to look out for. lol

Take some pics and post them here, I for one have no idea what that country looks like other than it was once a battlefield, Frankenstein/Van Helsing hang out and of course, Count Dracula.

I'll try to post pics on flickr or something like that. Only reason i'm going is for the family I feel guilty for not going sooner, i'll try and make the best of it but the big part of me just doesn't want to go, I just picture me sitting around a table with adults talking to my dad.

Here's a bit about Bosnia: link removed

and Croatia: link removed

Actually, this is making me want to go!

I know it has a lot of beautiful places to see but i'm a person who really doesn't care for that, its just not my thing sure it looks lovely seeing pics online but nothing that I would what to vist and see in person.

I envy you so much. So many people would love to go there. Please do take photos, lots of them to share with us. How about making that your project to keep you busy and less anxious?

Sorry about your grandmother. How long since you saw her?

I've been hearing that a lot: "aww your soo lucky"..."wish you could go"..."i'll go for you" lol I hope I can stay busy it will make time go by faster, that and maybe drinking non-stop

So tomorrow I jet off and the more I think about it the more I think I ain't gonna be able to make it threw the whole 2 weeks, if it was one week I would feel more relaxed, but I dunno how to say it to my dad I think he would be pretty disappointed, I know its crazy to think about it cause i'm not even there, but the anxiety is just getting to me, i'm trying to stay positive but its impossible.

I think you have a job to do, go do it. Be with your Dad and see your family. Get us plenty of pics of Eastern European (probably get corrected - again) life and more importantly, night life. Don't be tight, get some great pics and let us live vicariously for two weeks. I shall consider it my xmas present and yes, I will shout your praise and cyber carry you around this forum. Ahem. Get going and do us proud.

Thanks I know I should man up and go for it, most people would kill for this changes in life, but not me, i'm thinking of this to never ever travel again, it feels like its the most hardest thing for me to do in life, I know sad right ? I just can't wait to be back home, and that is not the right attitude.
