Gandaako Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 Just curious. The guy I'm dating, while we were hanging out, out of nowhere, on the spot asked me questions. They were not questions like what's your favorite food or something like that. They were questions like the ones you see when you take an IQ test. Every time I answer a question right, he kept giving out more and more till i said " i think i proofed enough that i am smart" ( said it in a joking way) he said one last one then thats when he stopped. I answered atleast 7 questions and I got all of them right but I had to guess two (got them right tho) and some I had to think very hard. There were math questions too that I had to figure out in my head. I'm pretty smart but why did he do that? He's very attracted to me I know for sure. Was he trying to find out if there's more to me than being physically attractive? He's very smart btw.
Generation Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 Because he's arrogant about how smart he is and thinks the only way he could have a meaningful relationship is if you can meet his standard of what a person should be able to answer from some arbitrary process of testing.
dasilver Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 Was he trying to find out if there's more to me than being physically attractive? He's very smart btw. That's exactly what he was trying to find out and it seems like you passed the test. Your guy wants to know that there's more to you that meets the eye than a pretty face and and a banging body. Kudos to him for realizing that beauty fades and dumb is forever. Hope he's a keeper... Good luck...
FYI Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 Never heard of something like that happening on a date and I probably would have left by the 2nd or 3rd question. Wouldn't be getting a second date from me.
20sgal88 Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 Yeah, probably. He probably wanted to connect with you on a deeper, more intellectual level. That, and/or he’s just that much of a nerd his nervousness got the best of him and so his brain spit out what it’s most comfortable with. Either way I think it’s cute and wouldn’t be too quick to brush him off. Sounds quirky and harmless.
james86 Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 That's cute, but yeah more likely he was just checking how smart you were on top of being physically attractive. Or he thinks this is something you both might share an interest in.
agent1607307371 Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 How old is he? Might be trying to get you to do his homework.
Gandaako Posted July 4, 2012 Author Posted July 4, 2012 We've been going out for about 1 1/2 months. He treats me really well when we're together. We always have fun hanging out.
Gilson Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 No worse than the subtle tests women put men through every single day, year after year....
blueidealist24 Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 That's really weird. I guess he just wanted to see if you're smart but it would bother me. Relationships shouldn't be about tests. Will he administer a 10 page examination if he's considering marrying you?
chickydoodle Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 I think it was just a bit of fun for him - a harmless game; maybe something he does with mates or siblings?
Gandaako Posted July 4, 2012 Author Posted July 4, 2012 He sounds socially inept.... Angel He's very sociable and have tons of friends everywhere.
Gandaako Posted July 4, 2012 Author Posted July 4, 2012 I think it was just a bit of fun for him - a harmless game; maybe something he does with mates or siblings? I think so too. Tho he put me on the spot, I think it was fun! Well, I proved to him I wasn't dumb
Gandaako Posted July 4, 2012 Author Posted July 4, 2012 Some were math questions (which I had to figure out in my head) like how do you convert 1/16 to percentage, what's the boiling point of water/freezing point? What's the next number in sequence? Which number shouldn't belong in the group? Multiply 356x11 (not exactly this but similar).. Now that I thought about the questions, he asked more than 7, maybe 10 questions I think..there were more but I don't remember all of them.

Will he administer a 10 page examination if he's considering marrying you? I think he also wanted to see if I would feel uneasy/nervous, would I show confidence and try to answer each questions he was throwing at me or would i walk away. Well, I managed to make it playful for both of us so we both had fun! And he thought I was smart

I would ask him just one question, "What does this have to do with the price of rice in China?" ...chi
resilient7 Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 Yeah, you are smart alright.I dont think most people would have passes this test.Did you study before your date.
Gandaako Posted July 5, 2012 Author Posted July 5, 2012 Yeah, you are smart alright.I dont think most people would have passes this test.Did you study before your date. Lol the questions were asked on the spot. I had no idea I would be taking a test that night.
resilient7 Posted July 5, 2012 Posted July 5, 2012 Lol the questions were asked on the spot. I had no idea I would be taking a test that night. See I told you,you were smart lol. Are you still going to see him?
Gandaako Posted July 5, 2012 Author Posted July 5, 2012 See I told you,you were smart lol. Are you still going to see him? Thanks. He said the same thing after I got all his questions right. He thought I was smart Yes I'm still going to see him. This time, It will be my turn to ask him questions. I will ask him questions when he didnt expect its coming..Let's see how smart he is lol.
Sportster2005 Posted July 5, 2012 Posted July 5, 2012 I think he is intelligent but not very smart. He should be smart enough to gauge you without putting you through some childish quiz.
resilient7 Posted July 5, 2012 Posted July 5, 2012 Depending on how he placed the question though,he must have done it to try and loosen himself up or break the ice. Gandaako,if you do ask him question,go with something he's totally unfamiliar with like sports or ping pong beer =)
