am I right to question their motives

So i have moved to another state.

 

I do really well financially and find it necessary to be a little leery of new friendships with people who know that detail.

 

The thing is this deadbeat relative that suddenly wants to meet up and hang with us and in the past few years since my husband and i married, he has spoken to us maybe 2 times. Now suddenly he wants to be buddy buddy.

 

Am i right to be suspicious of his motives?

 

This is an older half brother of my husband's whom he has never really known and has a reputation for stirring up trouble in the family.

 

My husband really doesn't want to have anything to do with him either.

It may seem cynical, but I would doubt his motives too if I was in your position.

 

If your husband doesn't want anything to do with him, then might as well keep your distance!
