YZRiderF
Not sure where to post this. Anyways when I was younger 18/19 I used to go on yahoo cams, well the other day I was off and decided to go on cam in yahoo. A girl messaged me and went on cam and asked to see me. I did and did things I regret now, anyway about 3-5 min in the user says, "Im a guy and I recorded this and sell it to gay porn sites." I immediately logged off. He then called me by a first name which wasn't right, not sure where he pulled that from. I haven't been able to focus for two days now and I have constantly been stressing. I didn't give any info to the user. I have been constantly searching my username for two days and my real name as well. I keep telling myself its probably a scam and he probably wanted to try and make me give him money or something to that extent. One the internet is a big place, two youtube get rid of all pornographic posts, three any site or company that pays would not pay for something of unknown origin, right? I know I am going to get a lot of what were you thinking's and you were right I feel stupid and I do know better. But right now I have this hanging over my head and need thoughts or advice anything! Thanks! Link to comment
In the Dark
If it is only seeing you on a webcam, couldn't they just use any males face on a webcam by taking it off the net? Why would they want to sell it to a gay porn site for if it is only you in casual conversation? Link to comment
tmtex
LOL, idiot. Most likely messing with you otherwise he wouldnt say a word. Stay on the bike not infront of the lens Link to comment
FathomFear
Yeah, this is most likely a scam. I wouldn't worry about it. I mean, I'm a gay guy myself and occasionally surf for porn. I never seem to come accross much in the way of "hidden cam" material. In all likelihood that is due to the fact that it's highly illegal and invasion of privacy to use such material without permission. Any web site that would display this material would be in potential legal trouble. Link to comment
YZRiderF
Well obviously it was more than casual conversation. I would think it would be illegal as well, but I know there are sites out there where you can upload stuff. Do you think he was just saying that to say it? I mean porn is everywhere I doubt anyone can make money from a cam video. Link to comment
camus154
Well thank god nothing illegal ever makes its way onto the internet. Link to comment
BellaDonna
It was probably someone just trolling. Even if what they said they did was true (HIGHLY DOUBT IT) finding a video of you on a porn site would be like finding a needle in a haystack. Even if it were on a porn site, no one would know who you were. It likely would never get back to you in a million years. Link to comment
Capricorn3
Well obviously it was more than casual conversation. I would think it would be illegal as well, but I know there are sites out there where you can upload stuff. Not sure how far this went, but I can guess. Question: Was your face in full view? Hopefully not. If so, I can understand the stress. Link to comment

Im paranoid and feel anxious. I cant sleep I pretty much feel horrible and probably will for sometime. What if this comes back years later if he was actually following through with the threat. Like you said even if it is what are the chance of anyone ever sees it in a sea of billions of videos. Nonetheless, I still have a disgusted feeling. And Capricorn3 yes at one point my face was shown. I just need a bunch of reassurance haha Im feeling like crap about this. Def a lesson learned, you know better when you aren't aroused, but when you are all of that goes out the window. Now my life could possibly be ruined, for a few minutes of pleasure. Not to mention I have a girlfriend. Link to comment
BellaDonna
Don't get me wrong- I understand why you are stressed over it. But think of the bottom line: It is very unlikely that your video is on a porn site. Even if it were: There is pretty much no chance it would ever fall into the possession of someone that knows your or could ever link it to you in it any way. I really think it was just a stupid troll that was bored and was messing with you. "Selling it" to a porn site makes no sense. There is enough free porn out in the world that I don't think there is a market out there for someone's short "amateur" web cam video to sell like a hot cake. The fact that they specificed "GAY" porn site makes even less sense. They were messing with you. Link to comment
FathomFear
Now my life could possibly be ruined, for a few minutes of pleasure. Not to mention I have a girlfriend. I think you have to realize that you mind is sensationalizing this. Even if the clip were sold to a porn site, which is very doubtful, the chance that you or anyone you know would come accross it is pretty slim. I mean, just try this out right now. Spend the next three hours surfing random porn sites and see if you can find anyone you know. You could probably spend 6 hours every day surfing porn for the next year and still not find anyone you know. It's nothing really worth worrying about. Link to comment
camus154
You have a girlfriend and you're doing this online? How do you think she'd feel about that? Ok, /end moral policing. Link to comment
YZRiderF
Thanks Belladonna and FathomFear I read these posts before going to sleep last night and made me relax some. I still feel like I have this hanging over my head. Camus154 she probably would not like it. With that said I have never flirted knowingly and have never cheated on her. If that is any constellation to the type of person I am. Link to comment
YZRiderF
Update, so Ive been surfing the web for other people who have been scammed. Seems like they got it worse than me. They all said the person asked for money and showed them a clip of themselves. Or a link to their video. Which many questioned and thought it wasn't legit. Also someone stated that a recorded webcam clip can not be saved to the hard drive how much truth to that I have no idea. Edit I got an odd call today said it was an army recruiter I called back and the person who answered, picked up the phone also saying it was an army recruiter. Could this be linked if they somehow have my IP address? would an IP addres show that info? I think it only shows what internet provider you use. I have had no such links sent my way or anything. Is this a good sign? Link to comment
Johnny77
A recorded webcam clip can't be saved to the hard drive, do you mean yours or theirs? There's no reason why it would be saved onto your harddrive, however it's very simple to record a webcam clip to your harddrive, or to record a live webcam stream, with programs such as Camstudio. I would say it sounds like a loser with too much time on their hands, I wouldn't worry about it. I had one friend who had (nude) pictures of herself posted onto a website by her ex, but all the sites took them down pretty quick, they would rather not risk getting into legal trouble. So worse case scenario, you'll have to ask a website to take them down, which they WILL. But again, I wouldn't sweat it. Link to comment
camus154
Yeah, the webcam could have been captured on their end. Regarding the recruiter and IP addresses, the answer is no. It's a coincidence and nothing more. Link to comment
YZRiderF
Yeah I think it is possible to save the cam your sending as well, that didnt sound right when I read it. I figured the phone call was a coincidence but I am paranoid lately. If the video were to be posted what would be the best way to find it? Ive been using Google and you-tube as well as any porn sites that you can upload files too. So far nothing has showed when I use any variation of my user name or name. I even just used "gay" and " webcam" and looked through many pages for anything uploaded in last 3 days. This is horrible. Link to comment
BellaDonna
Stop. You are going to drive yourself crazy. It isn't online. It is a good sign that you can't find it. Let that rest your mind. Link to comment
