I need to start doing this. Just buy a couple clothe items each month. Usually what happens is once a year or so, I realize that I need more clothes, and I buy a few new pairs of pants and a whole bunch of tops from old navy or something.

I am a fashion failure. DX

I used to do the exact same thing. I'd buy like 5-8 tops from Ross or something that were all under $10 and that was my clothes shopping for at least 6 months.

Found a couple of great blog posts that talk about "remixing" your clothing items to use with different outfits. I need to print these out and keep them by my bed!

So I think I left one of my two bras in Indonesia, so this April I'm in the market for 2-3 new bras. I don't really care for bras, my boobs are small enough that I can go without them in most situations, but I do think they look better with some support and structure.

This time around, I want to get some that have convertible straps so I can wear more halter tops and go strapless if I want. I'm also buying some of these link removed to better preserve them in the wash. I'm way too lazy/American to hand wash.

I'm liking some products from The Little Bra Company and Lula Lu, which both specialize in petite bra sizes. Prices range from $50 to $60, which is fine with me if I find something that fits comfortably and lasts a long time.

I'm going to a friend's wedding in June, so my May purchase will probably a summery, semi-formal dress I can wear. I will probably need shoes also. The bride tells me to wear something I can dance all night in and have fun. The dress also doesn't have to be long, which is good as I prefer short dresses on myself. But I'm also concerned about keeping the length respectful (Catholic wedding) and not looking too "all up in da club".

Here's a few I bookmarked just from browsing ASOS this morning.

I like this drapey dress, but I am concerned the length is too short.

I love these strapless dresses, but feel like I may have to cover up with scarf or something during the ceremony. Again, to be respectful.

I like the top image, but it could be due to the length of the dress as you ave mentioned.

I like the last one as well possibly based on the thick soled high heels.

I have always found thick soled high hells on a slender body rather appealing.

Maybe it compliments the body type some how.

I like dress No 3 Dr. K. I have used one of those mesh bags for years Dr. K and wouldn't be without it. I have to say though that I've been converted for maybe 20 years to having washing machines which don't have agitators. They definitely reduce the life of clothes. Around 20 years ago, I had a front-loader which I liked, but once you had started the cycle, you couldn't stop it if you had forgotten an item. Since then, I've had bubble-jet washing machines which work similar to front-loaders except they load from the top.

Tonight, I found a spray bottle of that anti-static spray we wrote about a few pages back to use on my black clothing. I also got a few different type of lint removers for my woolens and some brown vinegar so I'll give all my black woolens the full treatment and see how they come up.

If you are going to a religious ceremony you won't be able to wear any of those dresses unless you cover it with a jacket. On the front door of my church at home in the summer it always has a note up......no strapless dress, no short shorts, no tube tops etc. They basically want dresses that cover knees and fronts and cover the tops of the arms. You can also wear a different dress to the ceremony and a little more rique to the reception.

Thanks for the input, everyone! I think something conservative for the ceremony and changing into something different for reception will be the way to go. I can wear that striped skirt from an earlier post to the ceremony with a nice top and find a dress/shoes for the reception.

I tend to like darker too, though I am trying to brighten up my wardrobe a bit! I am thinking cream or light-gray colored shoes and maybe a small clutch bag. I think I will add a necklace instead of a bracelet/bangle. My wrists are so tiny, most things would slip right off them.

Went thrifting at Goodwill this weekend, and while I usually don't expect much from thrift stores, I got some great finds! I was on the lookout for a skinny belt to use for my waist and found two leather ones in great shape. One black and one tan.

The boyfriend was with me, looking through blazers and sport coats. He pulled one out saying, "Hey, this is tiny! I bet it's a woman's blazer." I tried it on and it fit almost perfectly! The sleeves are just a bit long but I can roll those up and get them hemmed at some point. I wanted a blazer in the future, but it wasn't one of my "necessity" items yet. But for $10 and just my size, I couldn't pass it up.

Tonight we're going out to a dinner with beer pairings and I want to wear the blazer over my favorite casual dress (plus one of the new belts). But I can't figure out what to do with my legs....

Gray tights

Black tights

Bare legs (ahh, still so white!)

(quick note, the dress isn't as short as it looks. Shooting from a low angle makes legs appear longer than the truly are!)

I dislike the gray tights the most. To me, they look too matchy with the gray blazer. Plus with that dress, they make me feel like Peter Pan. To be honest, I've yet to see anything in my wardrobe look good with those tights so far.

So I'm a bit torn between black tights and bare legs. Black tights feel more formal, bare legs feel more flirty. I may just leave it up to how warm I expect it to feel tonight.

I really like the outfit with the grey tights (sorry!)—it's really pulled together, smart, and shows off the shoes more. Of all the choices it makes you look the tallest, although I realize that is not necessarily the goal. Do you have beads or bangles for a touch of color? Whichever you chose, I like the outfit. Nice combo, the dress-belt-blazer.

Just reposting a few of my favorite things from Pinterest:

Madison Huarache Sandals by Frye. Unfortunately, can't find these for any cheaper than $148, boo!

And I'm finding myself into printed blouses lately. This one has little seahorses on it, so cute!

Striped Cardigan

I'm not really into the colorblocking trend, but this blouse is an exception, probably because it's more subtle. I don't like being LOUD with my clothes or in general, really.

Edit: If any of y'all want to follow each other on Pinterest, PM me your link and I'll do the same. I'm not posting it here since it uses my full name, but it would be nice to share ideas, pictures, and inspiration!

No pictures in this post because I'm lazy/sleepy...

I ordered this J.Crew dress for my friend's wedding next month, and I LOVE it! It fits great and the material feels durable and well-made. The top part is lined almost like a corset, it's pretty tight and stiff. To be honest, I probably won't even need to wear a bra with it. The skirt hits at about the knee on me so the length is appropriate. For the ceremony, I have a blue scarf I can wear around my shoulders. I just ordered shoes to go with it. And I'm considering adding a blue/turquoise clutch purse, although I'm not sure how often I would use it after the wedding. I chose this dress and shoe combo because of their classic style and versatility. I'm considering them investment pieces and know I'll continue wearing them after the wedding.

Maybe a nice necklace instead of the clutch. The dress already has pockets!
