Jim and Linda dated for about five or six years but broke up when he was going away to law school in 1994. Nothing too traumatic, just wanted to do different things with their lives, and there were some misunderstandings. They had essentially no contact after that, and definitely none at all for the past 15 years.

A few months ago, as he was about to turn 50, he got depressed and thought about how he was alone, two divorces and countless relationships in his wake. His relationship with Linda, he realized, was the best he'd ever had. So he googled her, then called and left a message. She called back the next day and left a message.

Long story short, they reconnected, fell in love again and she's living with him now.

I guess the moral of the story is never say never.

my best friends mom and step father dated for 3 years in college, then brokeup, both married different people, she went though a hellish divorce and his wife died, and then 9 years ago a mutual friend introduced them at a BBQ and they fell in love all over again, got married a year ago! both of them have 2 daughters. his youngest daughter and her youngest daughter are 8 months apart in age and so are both their oldest daughters!

How cool is that?

Yeah, stuff like that happens all the time. The thing is, most people here on ENA are here to discuss their breakup problems and so on. It's less common for people who are happily in a relationship or marriage to come on to ENA and post their stories.

Yes this happens all the time because there are a crap load of people on the face of the planet. But percentages that actually reconcile, not so many. We just lie to ourselves about how common it is to keep hope alive.
