What is it called if you "faint" and your neurons aren't connecting?

Recommended Posts

I've had this happen a few times in my life. Yet most recently it happened at work. I am thinking (which I do a lot) and I get stuck on this "endless" thought, as it cannot continue. I am stuck on a fixed point, to which I start to have a headache and have sometimes blacked out for a short time (never horribly long, maybe 6 seconds or so). My friend says it might be the neurons in my brain connect this thought process and so I'm guessing that when this happens, my brain "shuts down" for a few seconds until a connection can be found. Is there any condition or better explanation for this?
