jadedbylove
So I'm friends with a coworker on a social networking site. Our cubicles are right next to each other. I saw a comment he made about the person sitting next to him. There was some derogatory words in there. It was obviously about me because of the context. How does one handle this? Batya33
Delete him from your friends list and be on guard around him.
Samedy
could he have meant for you to see that? I know my friends and I, will pretend not to see another friend close to use, and then say some made up derogatory comments... Could that be the case here? agent1607307371
I would comment "I know how you feel." - let him know you've seen it without making it into a confrontation. (And poossibly, it's not about you, so...) This is why I keep my social networking, social only.
FathomFear
Most large® companies have strict policies against posting anything work related to social networking sites. It's grounds for termination at my workplace, for example. I've had to write people up for posting thing like "I hate the guy accross the aisle from me" or "I just spoke with the stupidest customer!" Employees need to realize that anything they say on these mediums could be traced back to the parent company and it could become a PR nightmare. Like what happened to this guy: link removed Definitely do not respond to the post in any way or even like/dislike it, assuming it's Facebook. I'd report it to your supervisor or acting manager and have it addressed that way.

FathomFear
I remember hearing on the radio that 15% of companies have terminated someone because of a posting on Facebook. It wouldn't surprise me. Unfortunately I've had to watch Facebook usage like a hawk with my employees, both in terms of bandwidth used and comments posted. Many people just don't understand how serious it is.
