Is this slandering?

Is telling someone that they have emotional baggage which causes problem in their lives slandering? I did not mean it bad or ugly, I was just honest and they took it wrong way.

depends on how well you know them. Best friend --- probably okay. Someone at work --- probably not.

Exactly --- you are entitled to your opinion, in a discussion with him. You aren't entited to deride another human being in public.

No, that's not slander. That's expressing an honest opinion, from which the person probably took offense.

You would have to say something that would be false to be sladerous which also has to be damaging to his reputation.

Yes, I told him directly because I feel like does not realize that. I think he was hurt before and can't get rid of that pain. Well, he took it bad and thanked me for telling him that. He said he has less baggage than he had 5 min. ago. And since that we are history. It hurts.

Slandering would be if you told everyone he has an STD (even though it is untrue) or something to that affect.

Some people don't like their faults pointed out by others. Guess he is one of them. Best to know this early....
