Leaving that woman emotionally damaged with strong barriers, confused and not sure what they want? Not only that but they would give you signs of interest one day and the next, none. Back an forth vice versa leaving yourself confused, and holding back on truly expressing the way you feel about her cause you're now protecting the way you feel and as well don't want to scare her way.
