Suggestions for Break-Up Song List - I'm Making a Mixed Tape for My Friend

Recommended Posts

Hi gang,

My friend is going through a difficult time after her break up and the post-breakup dating phase. I know how hard the pain is so I am making her a playlist of break up songs.

Do you have any good suggestions (beside the obvious such as I Will Survive, etc.)

I'm looking for all sorts of songs depicting all sorts of moods: cry-your-eyeballs-out, I'm-so-over-it, I-am-woman-hear-me-roar, I-never-fancied-him-anyway, etc. etc. Mostly on a positive note though.

Right now I have:

So You Can Cry by Ne-Yo

Unwritten by Natasha Bedingfield

Go Your Own Way by Fleetwood Mac

Hold On by Wilson Philips

What is your break-up playlist like????

Thank you for the suggestion!! =D

Jesus was a crossmaker - The Hollies... Now, I actually don't believe in God, I'm not a fan of church and all that, but this song! I could listen to it all day every day. It puts a smile on my face no matter what, and just gets me going every time.

50 Ways To Leave Your Lover - Simon and Garfunkel

For some nostalgia, I LOVE Thinking About You - Londonbeat

I think anything by Tool or Nine Inch Nails will give you that feeling like 'Holy crap I can do ANYTHING'. And that's coming from someone who only really listens to folk music.

Oh! Idiot Wind - Bob Dylan.

Being from the UK I'd HIGHLY recommend anything by Funeral for a Friend, they have such fantastic lyrics in their songs and they really hit home with a lot of their songs.

Funeral for a Friend - Rookie of the Year

Funeral for a Friend - Storytelling

Funeral for a Friend - Streetcar

Funeral for a Friend - Sixteen

Funeral for a Friend - Moments Forever Faded

Funeral for a Friend - Walk Away

Just to name a few but seriously, almost all of their songs have meaning and emotion.
