meoww
I just turned down a job I probably shouldn't have, but I realized I just couldn't do something I hate for the money. This has actually motivated me to seek out more fulfilling work! I thought would feel guilty but I feel relieved and no longer weighed down. I just hope this momentum keeps up. Anyone have any thoughts or experiences to share? Hopefully good ones! I need the encouragement right now. Link to comment

Although I would have personally lined some jobs up first so I wasn't unemployed. Link to comment
Mercurial Girl
I have done it so many times. Sometimes I should have taken the job while searching for a better fit, but most times I have been happy and relieved! Link to comment

meoww
That made me laugh. I had to mention, I am employed. I just hate my current job as well. Link to comment
Lavender25
I just turned down a "lateral move" with my company. They made sure to say "lateral move," letting me know that it wasn't a REAL promotion and that while it would pay slightly higher it wouldn't be much different than what I'm currently doing. However, the new store is an hour away and I don't think the pay would cover cost of living to move out there, etc. I think it was their last effort to keep me because I just got my degree in Biology and I can't WAIT to ditch retail! If it feels wrong then it's wrong. I feel like fear keeps a lot of people in undesirable positions in their lives. Don't live in the fear. Take the plunge. Link to comment
thejigsup
Sorry, I had to file bankruptcy the only time I did this. If you can still pay your bills, you did the right thing. If you can't, you made a big mistake. Link to comment
meoww
Two very different perspectives. I appreciate them both. A dash of realism can't hurt at this point though, I need to remind myself not to get too comfortable. Link to comment
