handshakes
i've been teetering on the edge for some time now and i can't take it. i don't know how much longer i can hold on. i'm in such physical and mental agony, it is excruciating. doctors can't seem to help. i don't know what to do. i have nothing to look forward to, and i dread the mornings which is when i feel the worse. i try to sleep a lot but i wake up off and on throughout the night with pains. i've seen about five different doctors, and still nothing. i've been to the hospital a couple times, even to see a specialist, and i'm seeing a surgeon tomorrow, but day to day it is intolerable. i don't know what to do. edit: i can't go anywhere or do anything during the day, and i'm not sure if i can get any more anti-nausea medication because it is so expensive, i don't think my insurance will cover it. the anxiety of being locked up all day only makes things worse. handshakes
thank you guys. the surgeon told me that my gallbladder needs to be removed, but that i must first see a gastrointerologist because my liver is screwed up... and i can't get in to see that doctor for eight days, so i have to wait until i see him, he will probably want to do more tests, and then once they figure it out i can probably have the surgery... so this may go on for a long time. i appreciate all the love, it just gets very very miserable at times. the waiting to see doctors and tests is very difficult. this whole thing is dragging out very much. Yeah, I can understand your frustration with that. Even though we know the necessity for all the tests and checking, it is still requires a great deal of patience to cope with it. In addition, you are still hurting. I had the gal bladder surgery years ago and I want to give you a tip about that. It will be much more comfortable for you to buy an elastic band that fits snugly around your mid-section to kind of hold that area in. Someone suggested it to me and I was able to purchase it at a medical supply store. Link to comment
handshakes
do you mean to wear the elastic band before or after surgery? could you describe it for me please? thank you for the advice. Link to comment
chitown9
do you mean to wear the elastic band before or after surgery? could you describe it for me please? thank you for the advice. You wear it after the surgery to ease the discomfort. You will experience a feeling of soreness after the surgery, and when I asked my attending nurse why it felt that way after the surgery. This was her reply: When the surgery is being performed they remove organs that are in the way of removing the gal bladder and place them on a table next to you. These organs are replaced after the gal bladder has been removed. The movement of the organs causing some bruising to the organs, and that is the cause of the soreness. I know it sounds strange, but it makes sense if you think about it The elastic band is about 6" wide and you wrap it around your waist. I will warn you, it was more expensive than I expected it to be, but it was well worth the money in my opinion... Link to comment
handshakes
oh that sounds strange, my surgeon said it would be laparascopic, only 3-4 half inch incisions. you must have had open surgery where they make a huge cut and take things out. Link to comment

Yes, that is correct. I had this surgery many years ago before they had advanced ways of doing it. In that case, I think your recovery time will be quite quick and you will not need the elastic band I was speaking of. That is certainly good news for you!... Link to comment
