Ladies - What do you think about skinny guys?

For the past 7 months I've been running and eating better in order to lose some weight. Before this, I was the heaviest I had ever been - 6'2" and 215 pounds. It doesn't sound like much, but my whole life I had been thin, so it was a bit of a departure from my normal body type.

In those 7 months I've lost about 30 pounds, and I've been doing some sit-ups and push-ups to get some muscle tone in my upper body to match the muscle tone in my legs from running. I'm sort of at a crossroads where I could either get sort of muscular, or keep my body the same and be thin, yet toned.

So I wanted to hear from the women here - Are skinny guys a turn off? Or are defined muscles a turn off? Or is just being a guy in good shape good enough (I know women can be turned off by guys going in either direction)?

Hmmm, I do wonder if being taller than most of the population could help in that "protecting" thing.

As a reference for what I'm sort of at now, it's like a younger Mick Jagger - Thin, but not sickly thin, but at the same time you can tell he works out a bit. We also kind of dress the same (Albeit I've never worn bell bottoms before!).

He just kind of has this awesome swagger about him, and I don't think it'd work if he was fatter or muscular. It also doesn't hurt that the Stones are in my top 3 bands.

I prefer a guy with a little meat on his bones. I once knew a guy who was as wide as a coat hanger. He was really good looking, and tall, but I could not get past the super skinny body. But, people cannot help these things and really, a great personality will make up for anything physical.

Mick Jagger was super sexy....when he wore those football pants on tour, he was super hot. He has the confidence to wear his thinness well.

Agreed. I'm the same way. I like guys who look like they eat and take care of themselves: A guy who's at least average-sized. A little bigger, if he's athletic.

My best friend is 110 lb, 5' 9'' tall. And he still seems to have girls like him a lot but still gets the "do you have an eating disorder" comments once in a while.

I prefer larger guys but that's just me. I've seen some really attractive skinny guys too. It really does take all types.

Didn't we just have a thread by a male poster asking what women thought of muscular guys?

And they say women have body issues.

OP - some women will care about a guys body, and some won't. Some will hate a skinny body, and others will love it.

Trying to get some kind of consensus is futile. You're asking opinions about personal tastes and attractions, and you will NEVER find a mass majority.

One thing I can tell you ALL people really like, is good hygiene. I don't care how hot you are - if you don't care of your hygiene, it's a huge turn-off. So, be sure to floss, shave and shower frequently, and you're already ahead of the game.

Well personally I like skinny. I am an avid runner and I really appreciate a guy who has the runner body type, particularly if he has some upper body definition as well. I think part of it is just being attracted to people who have a similar lifestyle to my own. It's kind of like when I went on a date recently and the guy told me he did not like girls with washboard abs...what was I supposed to say to that knowing I had them Some people will go for the skinny look and be attracted to it, and others will not, so do what makes you happy and don't stress about it.

I'm 6'3" 170lbs. I lift weights pretty regularly so I have some good muscle def, but some people think I need to gain weight. I actually used to weigh about 215 in HS while playing football 6 years ago, but I had to eat constantly to keep that up. But I've never really had issues with women finding me attractive. If anything, they seem to take more notice since getting out of football conditioning. I like being slimmer

Oh boy, what a thread!

My boyfriend is a firefighter and has always been very fit (6'3, 185lbs). He went on vacation for 2.5 weeks in June and he came back 20 pounds skinnier. He loves his new skinny body. And to be honest, if he was as skinny with muscle, than itd be okay. But the weight he lost on vacation, wasn't fat, he lost all his muscle. So now he just looks very, incredibly scrawny. His muscular arms - gone. His great chest and abs - gone. Its like a skeleton.

I don't know, I don't find him as attractive as I did before he left on vacation. To be honest, it looks like I can beat him up now, and I'm only 5'1 - 118lbs.

20 pounds in 2.5 weeks? And mostly muscle?

I'd have your BF see a doctor PRONTO. That's just not right.

That would be just about smack dab in the middle. For my height (6'3") I should be anywhere between 175-220. I weigh under that, but close enough. 6'2" is about the same, 170-210, so almost in the middle. But that is the middle of the middle range. So for guys to appear healthy and not underweight, I guess they should aim for the higher of the middle weight chart. Like I should put on about 30 lbs and weigh 200. But 30lbs is going to take a lot of eating and protein

6'2, 185 pounds does not sound skinny. What do the height/weight charts say?

I've noticed some men think they look a lot thinner than they do. It's like a reverse body image issue.

I guess skinny isn't the best, word - Maybe thin? A BMI chart says I'm between 22-24, which is normal weight. I guess I'm not used to being this thin after being out of shape for so long, so I feel I look thinner than I really am. I also noticed my ribs are showing around my sides and in the middle of my chest, which I haven't seen in years. As reference for how thin I've been, my freshman year of college when I finally stopped growing in height, I weighed around 150-160, and was like a rail.

I used to be very into tall, skinny guys. But then I met my husband who has a big build, and now I'm not so much into skinny guys... moral of the story, for me it doesn't really matter. What matters is that a guy is active and healthy, regardless of his build.
