Immune Boosters for Child Care Workers

Recommended Posts

So last week I finished my first week at a new child care place and hour from my old job. I recently moved. I have been a child care worker for two years and worked at a health facility. I did not get sick while I worked at those places. The end of my first week there, last week, I came down with a cold. I was wondering if anyone could share with me any immune boosters or ways that I will not get sick. I can't remember the last time I was this sick, and it's summer to boot! I've been eating healthy and everything. Thanks in advance for all your ideas!!

Hi! I am a primary school teacher and I teach 5-6 year olds. When I first started teaching I would get sick ALL the time! Kids are so germy, I don't think I can remember a week from my first year when I wasn't sick! I took multi-vitamins, ate healthily, exercised, etc etc etc. However I found that THE best thing you can really do to avoid germs (and hence getting sick) when working with young children is to:

- Have hand sanitiser nearby and use it regularly.

- Try your hardest not to touch your face with your hands while you are working. Germs get on your hands, then into your nose/mouth etc...

- Wash your hands every time before you eat or handle your food or go near you face.

- Sanitise, sanitise, sanitise! (Excuse my Australian spelling

I know it sounds like not much, but after several years of trying everything to not get sick, being ridiculously carefully clean about germs is the best thing you can do. That, and try your hardest to just get through this bout of illness and then not too far in the future you will have an immune system of steel with antibodies to all of those germy kiddy bugs! But I definitely know how you feel!

agree with katy, eating healthly and keep good hygiene is vital. i work as a nurse and i dont touch the vaccines, i personally do not trust them or their ingredients and have seen more vulnerable people deteriorate after their jabs...but good diet and attitude to health with hygiene measures ensure its very rare i come down with something, and when i do, my immune system gets a lil stronger by itself.
