Don't know what to do

Recommended Posts

Hello,I'm very confused and don't know what to think!Well, the professor teaching Calc at university (lecturer) is a person who i really admire and respect.thanks to him i realised what means to be pleased and passionate with your job.I was always excellent at his lesson because i really liked it and asked him questions that other students didn't and which i have to accept were more advanced than the level we were!!Before the exams i asked him a question from his new released book and he told me that i had done well to tell him and said that i will help him on the next book he is preparing and i said "YES".At the exams i took A and he told me that i deserved it and after we saw a difficult exercise he told me that what we do now the other students don't understand (cause this is beyond what they've learned) and gave me an exercise for homework.I solve the exercise and went to his office to give it to him but he was on a hurry, cause he had a conference and took the sheet and told me to send him an email now and then and asked me when i go on vacations and i told him that i will be here,he also too!!So i send him an email on Monday questioning him about the exercise and the problem is that he hasn't replied yet!!!What should i do?Should i go to his office?Maybe am i being a little bit annoying cause he explains to me more than he is paid for?

Thanks in advance and sorry for any misspelling

It was a two hour conference of the professors at universities.there is no other lesson the semestry finished and i want take any lessons from him

If it is the end of a semester and there is a semester break, then leave him be. Professors are entitled to a personal life and breaks. It is good that he is not contacting you over break because that means his intentions are purely teacher-student and nothing more. If you wan to learn more from him, take another class he teaches or if he is involved in being a volunteer or teacher for a math club, etc, then join that. It is very unusual for a professor to take a student on and teach them outside of classes if they don't currently have a class that they are in. If the exercise was something extra, I would use it just for practice and to try to find out in your books if you are right or not with the answers.

I think you are right,i will find out on my own! What i don't understand is why professors say something now [said that i will help him on the next book he is preparing] and after nothing!!Maybe,I shouldn't ask professors a lot of things cause it's obvious that what they do is their job and don't care a lot if a student is interested int the same field.
