Karibo
Hi, I am looking to rent an appartent with my boyfriend. I don't think my credit rating is that great. I had three final warnings to pay my council tax but that was only because they never sent me any initial bills until the warnings! But I paid those off on the day I got the final warnings. I am currently renting on my own and I have paid all the rent on time since I've lived here for a year. My boyfriend has really good credit. Will they need to ceck both of our credit history? Or do you think we can get away with them checking onlly his? Thanks Link to comment
OptomisticGirl
Not sure how it works there but here, some apartments check for credit, some don't. My first apartment they didn't but they did report us paying rent on time to credit agencies. My 2nd apartment they checked (and based your security deposit on your credit score) and at the time mine and my ex's was good neough we didn't have to put a deposit down. q Link to comment
civilservant
To only check his credit he would have to be the sole signatory on the lease. As for the council tax, since its a criminal offence not to pay it (you can get banged up for it) its nothing to do with your credit file. You cant get a CCJ from it. Link to comment

metrogirl
It also depends on the landlord and what they are looking for specifically. My landlord only wanted to make sure I didn't have a criminal background, she didn't care that my credit was bad. Link to comment
