Think of the alternative: would you prefer that your ex dump you but still keep contacting you, giving you false hope? Usually, by the time you've been dumped, your ex has well and truly checked out of the relationship. They're done. They want to move forward and don't want to deal with you anymore. Unless they are one of those dumpers that want to keep one hand on you so they can use you to help them move ON from you, and get what THEY want from you, such as an ego boost or filling in boredom. Not saying all dumpers are like that, but just be glad that your ex isn't doing that.
