big-smiles
To start thinking about having a baby! I don't really post on here oftern but would like to get more involved! Me and my partner both feel in the right Place in life and are excited about becoming parents! We have decided to start trying in October for a june/July baby! Currently I'm on the pill and hoping to stay on it till the month we would aim to try for! I know that things don't turn out to plan and it can take months! But I thought I would post and ask you mummy's who had been on the pill how you decided to go around it? Is it best giving my body a break before We begin? Will be grateful for any advice and generally chats about babies! Angie x Link to comment
Capricorn3
My doctor advised me to give my body a break after coming off the Pill, before trying to get pregnant. Even after a long break, things still didn't work out as planned. On the other hand, I have a couple of friends who stopped taking the Pill and fell pregnant almost immediately. Our bodies are very strange things, lol. I would say see your doctor, tell them your plans and ask their advice and then take it from there. Good luck. Link to comment
big-smiles
Thankyou! I know a few have got pregnant straight away! But I'd like the best start and my body to be ready for it! I will be seeing my doctor! I know it my take a few months but I'm on the mindset for that! Do you have any children? Link to comment
big-smiles
Sorry if that was too personal! I'm so rude sometimes! X Link to comment
Capricorn3
Do you have any children? Yes, I have two (son and daughter). Had three pregnancies, first one ended in miscarriage and was in hospital with the next two for several months each. I have the worst, nightmarish pregnancies ever! lol. After my two babies I was strongly advised to have no more (not that I wanted more than 2 anyway). I hope you have wonderful pregnancies! Link to comment
Seraphim
I would check with an OB and ask questions. Start eating healthy and sleeping well and taking prenatal vitamins and exercising. Link to comment
OptomisticGirl
A lot of doctors will suggust you wait a few months after coming off the pill to give your system time to realign itself, so to speak. some women have taken years to get pregnant after coming off the pill and some within a matter of months. BellaStranger
It might be an idea to come of the pill now and use condoms until you are ready to try? I think those that fall pregnant immediately after being on hormonal BC are the exceptions! Link to comment

BellaDonna
I was on the pill for over 10 years. When it was time to start a family I stopped taking the pill and used condoms instead for a couple of months. I also began taking prenatal vitamins during that time. Then we started trying to conceive and I got pregnant right away. Link to comment

I came of the pill yesterday! and am going to give my body a break! So excited! My partner is 30 and been debating it for a while, but his best friend had a baby a few weeks ago, and I think its swayed him! saw him holding the cat like a baby yesterday! Huntress0527
My doctor told me as long as I finish the pill pack then there are no issues. I wouldn't say when I get off the pill that I'm going to really try to conceive but I won't prevent it either when the time comes. I hold my dog like a baby, he hates it lol! Link to comment

I think it's just because of the different level of hormones. Just give your body some time to get back to normal. My doctor recommended a book that I haven't had a chance to pick up and read, I believe it's entitled "Taking Charge of Your Fertility". Link to comment
BellaDonna
Now that I think back, when I came off the pill I used condoms for a couple of months and also took some supplements during that time. I took prenatal vitamins but I also took a separate Zinc Supplement. There is a really great women's heath website Aphrodite's that I referred to often. I think you will find it helpful link removed Also, have your man start getting himself ready to be more fertile too. link removed Link to comment
big-smiles
Thankyou so much! I'm gonna head for a shopping spree of nutrient goodies tomorrow!! It's so hard to now wait till october! But I'm sure I'll manage!! Thanks for the book recommendation! Im going to amazon it Link to comment
SamiJayne
Did your GP not recommed Folic Acid? My Gp recently told me that we had to come our our birth control and use condoms for a few months. Before we tried for another baby. I grew up in a town in Cheshire! Good luck with trying! You get a NHS pregnancy book on your first visit with the midwife, so you really don't need to go buying other books. Plus the internet is full of information. If you have any bad habbits, i.e. Smoking, drinking, caffine, you should probably try to come of them. Your partner should cut down/ if not give up if he's a smoker If your not then good luck!!! xxxx Babies are wonderful! Link to comment
big-smiles
Ooo where abouts in cheshire?? BellaDonna
SamiJayne is right- Folic Acid is a must. I should have mentioned earlier that one of the reasons I took prenatal vitamins before getting pregnant was because of their folic acid content. You could also buy a separate, isolated folic acid supplement if you don't want to take prenatal vitamins. But I found it easier just to take the prenatal vitamin so I knew I'd get everything I needed in one tablet. Link to comment
OptomisticGirl
My fiance and I (who lives in England, he does, anyway) will be trying for a baby in about 2 years once I move over. I plan on taking folic acid before we start trying too - certain birth defects like spinal biffida, it reduces the risk of the baby having it if you take it before conception. Link to comment

OptomisticGirl
The south west area. You may have one sooner than normal, jut like if you we're to skip a lot of pills, it would cause you to have your period before it's suppose to. Link to comment
