peanutbutterandjelly
Has anyone here done speed dating? What did you you think about it? If you've never done it before, what's stopping you? Link to comment
peanutbutterandjelly
apparently there is no interest what so ever in speed dating. I've been having a hard time locating a speed dating event near me, so maybe its just not that popular or well known. Link to comment
LoveSoDeep
Hi MandH! I've tried speed dating. I haven't met any great guys that way but that wouldn't stop me from tryin it again. In my area there aren't a lot of options and it's not cheap, but I think for the chance to meet on average 6 or more guys in your age range in one night it's not bad. So far I've had better luck with on-line dating but I think that's b/c I like a specific type that isn't maybe the most prominent where I live. So the guys I've met at speed dating are good guys they just aren't really my type. But I can totally see how it would work for other people. Maybe you should start up your own. Link to comment

Ariel85
I've never done it, but you're right - I think it's fallen by the wayside. I see more lock and key events now, than I do speed dating. Link to comment
mfan
I think speed dating could work if the criteria were extremely specific, e.g. a group for people between 30 and 39 who work full-time in a financial field and have no children. Expand the criteria to just "people 30-40" or even "professionals age 30-40" and it sounds to me like it's hopeless to meet anyone you have interest in. Link to comment
beatlesfan77
I've tried it a few times and never received a response from anyone there. Even the women I had a really good conversation with and had mutual interests never responded. Give it a shot though. You might have different results. Link to comment

Basically with a lock and key event, a girl and guy gets a key and they have to mingle to find their match, right? It seems like you'd have less to go on than even a 5 minute date. Link to comment

I don't know if I could be a host and a particpant if I started my own, but I guess it's a possibility. I'm just trying to think of a bunch of ways to meet people and the idea popped into my head. Unfortunately, it doesnt look like it's ever caught on in my area. Maybe no one has taken the initiative to set up these kinds of events though. Link to comment
LoveSoDeep
True might be hard to participate if you set it up. Hmmm. Maybe you should combine both ideas (form this thread and the other) and start a Lock and Key meetup. I actually might go for that one. lol Link to comment

I can't even find a speed dating group near me, nevermind one that caters to specifics. I guess it would be hard for speed dating organizers to find participants the more specific it got too. Thats probably why they dont exist. Link to comment
