Difference between flirting and being friendly and joking

Can you actually tell the difference between flirting and a guy just being friendly and silly while around you?

 

If somebody that you work with for last few months, gives you a lot of hugs, kisses you on the cheek , teases you using nickname he gave you

is it flirting or just being playful ?

Depends. Is he gay? If not, then I'd say he's flirting. If yes, well...there ya go

he definitely is not gay, but he is Italian and they are usually friendly towards girls, no?

Oh, well if he's Italian, it comes with his culture. It could honestly go either way. Why not just ask him out for coffee or something? See what he's like in a dating situation.

it can go both way. depends on how he hugs ,how he kisses..i wouldnt say that's def. flirting. europian people hug and kiss all the time and their guys are pretty friendly and open.
