Rubbish online dating profiles

Bad online profiles are really beginning to annoy me. I appreciate that attractive women don't have to put in any effort at all to get inundated with messages online, but it makes it impossible to actually come up with anything meaningful, or even very funny.

Example - today: email "Blondiexxxx wants to meet you". I go to her profile, yeah fairly attractive, good good. Then read the text:

"I enjoy my holidays and visiting new places, like to keep fit and active. Looking for someone who is easy going, good personality. Ask me to find out more!"

That's it! And there's so many of these barely-thought-out profiles. It actually seems to need more effort online than getting dates in real life.

Coupled to that my date from the weekend who looked nothing like she did in her profile... the pictures, they lie!

Gah

I've done the whole online dating thing and there are a lot of men's profiles which are like that too. There weren't many profiles with that extra spark which attracted me to them.

Regarding photos, I once met a man off a dating website who looked NOTHING like his photo. I questioned him about it, and he admitted that the photo was around 5 years old! Urgh!

You have to be that extra careful on dating websites, as it's easy to lie/post old photos etc etc.

I agree. Maybe they are socially inept or boring? How can you not realize that you need some kind of cue to start a conversation?

That being said, you do have 2 nuggets. You know she likes to travel - you can ask about the places she's been or what her favorite place was. You also know she works out so you can ask about sports, which ones she likes, what she does, etc.

Yeah that's right, I've used some clues from photos about where she's been and asked about them, but it's all pretty lame. I think it's all down to women just not needing to put in any effort to get responses. And this is on plentyoffish which seems to be mostly retards. Maybe I'll stick to okcupid, seems a bit better there!

The "Ask me to find out more" kind of screams some advertisement for a video-cam site but I agree she could put more effort into the profile. You can really tell people that are serious about finding a long-term relationship vs. testing-the-water or simply looking for casual relationships.
