Mixed28
Im 19 turn 20 in Sep. I had a girlfriend at the beginning of freshmen year of college and I was in love with her but she dumped me after being together for two months (that was my longest relationship). I have been single for about 7 months. My parents keep telling me to get a girlfriend (which is not something you can just do). They keep telling me to go her and there. I don't know what to do I do go out and stuff but don't have much luck also I tried online dating but that hasn't really worked either. I don't know what to do, most people at uni are in a relationship and I do go outside my school into the city but its hard to find a girl who does not like a thug or bad boy. Don't know what to do. Kailynn
I think you should ignore your parents. Finding worthwhile relationships are hard and you shouldn't throw yourself into one because someone told you to. If you really want to meet someone, just do it. I know it sounds silly but, speaking as a girl, I get hit on like crazy at bars. Granted, most of them don't amount to anything, the guy still tries. Something as simple as "Can I get you a drink?" when you're at a house party opens the door for more communication. Honestly though, take your time. Relationships are hard work and they're even harder when they end. If it takes you 2 years to find someone who makes you happy than that's fine. Link to comment
Lanyru
Speaking from a guy's perspective, I'll second Kailynn, and I'd also add that I've found, in my experience, whenever I would force the issue, that is, go on the prowl and "look" for a relationship, I'd end up with nothing worthwhile. I've realized that most relationships that I've been in have been through chance encounters when I wasn't even actively looking. Just be yourself, ignore all the outside noise, it'll happen. In the meantime, just be open to others and be sociable. Link to comment
