biffbangpow Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 Any suggestions? I don't like online dating websites. I've never tried them, only browsed, but would much prefer to meet people in person. I'm not a gym rat so I would have to pass on suggestions like that too. The club and bar scene I hate and would not want to be apart of. Thanks for any tips.
GettingBetter Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 I'm pretty sure in any sizable city you'll find some venues to go ballroom dancing. I'm from California, but it seems to me ballroom dancing is even bigger on the East Coast than it is here on the West Coast. I recall hearing something about a dance bar in New York that played Tango music round the clock... If you're interested, sign up for a beginning ballroom dance class at any dance studio or a city college. You're bound to meet women there. Most of the women I've dated, I've met dancing.
mandym555 Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 There are many link removed that give you the idea for that.
reidqa Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 Biff, You got hobbies, there "meetup" site. A great place to meet people with a common interest. Nice networking.
bulletproof Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 Join New York Cares. Every time I volunteered for them, it was about ten girls to every guy. Also look into improveverywhere- they are a fun group. There are also many, many different classes you can take since there's so many schools.
mfan Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 I'm wondering why you are averse to online dating? For someone who doesn't like the gym and bars ("spontaneous" meeting places), online dating sounds totally ideal. You can think about what you're doing as you do it. I recommend New York Cares also - lots of people to meet and you don't have to paint houses or run marathons - one activity was a group of 20 people go to a settlement house for people with AIDS and sing songs for them. They give you all the sheet music and it's easy stuff like popular Broadway showtunes. About 15 girls and 5 guys. The girls were self-righteous but cute.
TakingtheBlame Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 link removed! I've done so many awesome activities through this site and met so many cool people...some have become really good friends! Do it!

I wouldn't be negative to trying it so much if it were a free trial but it just seems like a pit I don't want to fall into yet. thanks for the suggestions, I think there's some good ones in there I wouldn't of thought of.
