beachgrl
I didnt know if i should post in sex or health, but seems its more of a health issue, not sex and romance. My boyfriend thinks he got an std years ago. He went today to have his doctor check it again and treat it because it has been bothering him more. Anyways, he told me that years ago, the doctor said it looked like dried up herpes. Now, correct me if i am wrong, but herpes doesn't just go away. So, it " looks" like dried up herpes but didn't run a test, give him cream/medication nothing, just said that. So, today he said he "doesn't know what it is" he saw there is a pimple on his penis and said to come back Wednesday so he can remove it. Does he need a new doctor???? this guy sounds like he is incompetent! I told him he needs to tell the guy he wants to be tested for ALL std's and if he won't do it, then to go to a doctor who will. Am i wrong? Link to comment
rosephase
You are not wrong. Honestly that doctor sounds so incompetent I wold be worried that your boyfriend is lying to you. If it looks like you have an herpes sore a doctors should swab the sore and have it tested. But to be fair to your boyfriend I'm constantly surprised at the lack of consistency with doctors around sexual health. Do you have a planned parenthood near by? It's a really good place to go because that is there focus. You should both get full screenings and get the western standard blot test for herpes (sometimes you have to ask for it by name but it's really the only "gold standard" when it comes to herpes most other tests can't be accurate unless you are currently having an outbreak) Link to comment

Yeah you don't "remove" a herpes sore. If he HPV he could have a wart which is something that gets removed. I think he was either upset and didn't explain it well or he simply didn't understand what the doctor was saying but none of that adds up. But yeah it could be the doctor. Link to comment
agent1607307371
Iis there a GUM clinic near you? He needs to go get tested properly. Link to comment
ladyninja30
The fact that he told you about a possible std obviously means he cares enough about you to have said something. You both should be properly tested and that's all there is too it. Link to comment
catfeeder
You're right about the latest doc, I'd skip going back there. The doc before likely couldn't test because he missed the window for getting a culture if the sores were already healing. Link to comment
