Friends I can't count on and making new ones?

Hi,

I'm in college and after high school, all my friends were separated. I had contact with close friends from high school but weren't at the same college as me. I had a surprise birthday party and some of my friends came but 2 of my close friends didnt even come.. I have friends from a bit everywhere that came( not a clique) but I was really disappointed to see that close friends didnt come to an event that occurs once a year, especially when I have been to their birthdays. I feel like I don't deserve these friends and want new ones.

Were you already in this situation? & What did you do?

I will also go to a new college next session (not sleeping there) and want to make new good friends.
