cakeforscience
Hello everybody,I'm new here but anyway. I want to ask your advice or your opinion on one matter that is pretty important to me and for my future. So two years from now I will be finishing school and I am considering of leaving my home (I live with my family but they are very controlling and I hate that ).I'm thinking that if I get into a university at the city I'm living in currently I would have to get an apartment somewhere and find a job because my parents would not sent me money in fact, they would do ANYTHING to keep me in their house forever. So this won't be easy but I sure feel like I want to get out of here.Another solution would be to stay at my parent's house and they would get me a car which would give me some freedom and independency but still (since I have an elder sister and an elder brother) I know how things will play so I don't like being questioned about where I go and with whom. Finally, if I don't get in a university in my city I would be obliged to move and they would give me money and get me an apartment so that would be good but there is a downside since I would probably have to move to a suburb which won't be ideal however that's a minor problem.Well, these are my concerns. Thank you in advance. Link to comment
catfeeder
Apply with lots of schools, see where you get accepted, then decide from there. Find out if there are schools that your parents like better than the local U, and apply to as many of those as possible. If the local U gets narrowed down to your only option, grin and bear your parents while you study and see whether you can also handle a job. If so, work, save the money to live on your own, then decide whether freedom weighs more than expense of trying to buy it. Link to comment
cakeforscience
Well it's actually kind of different since I don't live in USA so I will obviously put as my first choice the university of my city(it's also the capital of the country)...However I'm just thinking that either I leave instantly or I will stay here forever. I think that I'll need a drastic move but it is pretty hard to know what is best Link to comment

If you want instant results, start saving your money. Without that, you don't get a vote. Link to comment
