Yoga or Pilates.........?

I haven't excerised in a while and am ready to start again (had chemo and radiation but feel good now). However, I don't need to lose weight. But I want to start with some basics because I am not at full strength yet.

Not sure to start with Yoga or Pilates and I don't have a lot of money to spend - just 1 or 2 DVD's.

Also, who are some instructors that you like?

Have you thought about signing up for some yoga classes at your local gym or yoga studio? I find that stuff like yoga and pilates is better to do in a studio with others. They offer classes like this probably at your local Y and probably aren't too expensive.

I've considered it, just seems like a hassle to have to drive there after work. I'd be stressed out by the time I got there, lol!

Regardless of whether someone needs to lose weight, yoga is so good for you.

The ones I have that I like, I found on Amazon for not much money -- I'm not sure, like in the $10 range?

One is called "Yoga for Beginners" and the other one is "AM/PM Yoga for Beginners" with flexible routines you could do in the morning or evening for 10 minutes or 30 minutes or whatever.

They both were produced by Body Wisdom Media for Body + Soul magazine, if that helps.

I have spent time doing both yoga and pilates. Yoga is more of a stretching, feel good kind of work-out and pilates is more muscle building, hard work kind. I think pilates builds a lot of key muscle groups, especially for females, that keep us from injuring ourselves in daily life, but yoga has this almost meditation aspect to it that makes it truly mind and body work. I choose to meditate every morning and do pilates for exercise
