I don't. My noises during sex are more to express to my partner how good I'm feeling. Sometimes a little moan or gasp will escape me when I make myself come, and I definitely breathe heavily, but not to the same extent as when I'm with someone.

I think it's different everyone. Many exaggerate their noises when having sex merely to show the other they are enjoying it.

 

I certainly don't make noises when I masturbate, and I am pretty sure that's the case for most. It is more like a mechanism that guys have done since they were really young..so it is nothing special. We don't go around sitting in our room, screaming it out.

Agreed. The sounds aren't the same. Sometimes my own moans make me hot, so I do them while I masturbate...but that's only occassionally. (That sounded so bad and so wrong) But, with another person..I'll be more vocal..it's less weird. But, it's like...I dunno..I'd feel weird making all kinds of noises alone. If it was THAT good alone...I wouldn't need a man.

no I dont. when I masturbate I breathe more rapidly, and maybe a small moan when I orgasm... but with a guy it is totally different. As the others have said it is maybe sometimes exaggerated (just in a sense of being louder) so your partner knows what turns you on.. however for me, it really does feel that much better

To the OP. I think we are allowed/encouraged to be noisier during 2 person sex as opposed to solo. The nature of solo is different - at least to men anyway. For guys, its something to "get out of the way" so we can focus on more constructive things (which could be anything from making a sandwich to invading a foreign country). Moaning etc just slows us down lol.

I sometimes do, if I'm really craving a partner at that moment. Otherwise, I try to stay quiet.

Interesting post. I never would have thought of the words "moan" and "thrust" as onomatopoeia. Those seem like just regular verbs, unless I missed an etymology lesson.

 

To illustrate what I consider more like onomatopoeia, I do not associate moaning with going, "moan, moan, moan, moan." It's kind of more like, "Uuuuh. Uuuuuh. UUUUh...UHHHHHNNHHHNNH".

 

I think I'll spare an attempt at "thrust" in this context.

 

Also, your last sentence is funny, shuttlefish. Heh. Emitting a noise slows you down? This is quite a revelation you should share with the guys who think they have trouble coming too fast.

 

As to the OP...I feel like the odd one out here, somewhat. In that, in my own private experience, I've wondered over the amount of bruhaha (actually, come to think of it, that word's slightly onomatopoeic here as well) I was creating and asked myself if I wasn't trying to replicate the real thing. To make it seem more "authentic." But then, subjecting this to rigorous investigation (since I would hate to bloat my own ego about my performance), I realized that frantically having to grab a pillow and suffocate myself probably was a good indication that it was genuine.

 

Of course though, I do a lot more verbalizing with a partner and it's fair to say that it's an amplified version of the solo experience.

For me its a totally involuntary reaction.

 

When I am alone I can be quiet, but say if I have been delaying the orgasm and having myself a bit more fun than just letting go as soon as the feelings take me I can't help but make a noise, but I try to muffle it (usually by covering my mouth with my hand or pillow.

 

When I am with someone, I have no control what so ever, I am a very vocal person and can't help but be a bit of a moaner, its not for effect or to turn on my guy, its just the way my orgasms take me!
