Are you planning to have a big wedding with all your friends and family and such, or just a small, intimate wedding?

 

You can have your nephew be your ring bearer

 

We want a brunch for sure...no more than 100 people. We plan to pay for this ourselves. Since we're both broke, we have to be very careful with that! there are certain parts of our family we do NOT want there and some friends who don't really need to come. So it'll be more friends than family, for sure.

 

We're sort of going for non-kid, but I don't know if we can get away with that. But we DONT want kids in the wedding. That much is known...no matter how much we love our nephews!

I know I definitely want this (from the elusive word doc!!):

• Guest book: link removed. Have page at each place setting, gel pens wrapped in bundle with orange/brown ribbons on table. Person to go around and take Polaroid of each guest, guest applies picture to page (double-sided tape?) and drops in bin on guest table. Guest book to be made later

i want to hear details!!

 

well i did recently buy the dress, dont know if yall remember my thread about that but i ended up buying one of the dresses i posted in that thread.

it set me back a bit price-wise but it was so worth it. going for a fitting soon, had a cpl of changes made to it. even bought some heels similar.

 

we're having a destination wedding at an AI resort in the riviera maya that i booked through a travel site who specializes in weddings, so theyve taken care of alot of the details.

 

we set up a registry, and we're planning to take E-pics soon if we can find a good photographer.

 

the wedding bands are picked, colors are black white and silver.

 

picked out the design of our floral like designed 3 tiered cake, we're going to have a white chocolate mousse for 1 tier, chocolate chip for the 2nd tier, and a strawberry flavor for the 3rd.

 

lately ive been changing my mind about the design, im thinking of doing cakelets, so each guest can have their own personal cake.

 

done with the guest list and invitations, thankfully its a small party so there wasnt alot to do.

what's an AI resort?

 

thanks An all-inclusive vacation is a package where all expenses are included in the price, ive been to a few before and its really nice to not have to pay anything. i just tipped the staff.

 

this is the resort we are staying at for a week. its sooo nice, ive stayed next to it before so ive been wanting to check it out for awhile now. will finally get a chance to!

If you're NOT looking for somewhere tropical, may I suggest Mackinac Island? It's very cool and I've had a few friends honeymoon up there. No cars are allowed on the island, it's all horse-drawn carriages and bikes. It's a very historic place. Will and I are going in June.

we're barely makin it ourselves lol. especially with this wedding.. i think whats helped us is being able to put a deposit down on our trip so we can manage to pay whatever want afterwards up until the wedding. our travel specialist has been great with us when it comes to that.

 

i have a few more payments to go and ill be through.

 

are you going to take his name or keep your maiden name?

Well, it would be cheaper than somewhere like Mexico or the Caribbean. Plus, spring and fall are "off-peak" so it would be MUCH cheaper.

This is the Grand Hotel... It's been in a few movies. I went to a wedding there a few years ago and it was beautiful.

that sounds so simple! are you finding it difficult to do any planning from afar? or are they doing it all for you?

 

as for the name, I'm so torn. I've always had an issue with the woman taking the name, but I probably will end up doing it. His last name is 4 letters and mine is 9. gotta condense. haha

maybe because we're having a small wedding the planning has been smooth sailing so far, it helps to have a planner too : x so far its been easy. ive done a good share of the planning, its been a joint effort. my FI did his part by picking food, cake flavor alcohol and music the few things he was interested in

 

hes been slacking on the kindof tux he wants. but he has awhile to go so im not nagging him about it.

 

 

FIs name is short like mine, pretty traditional so i will take his name.
