my friend, let's call him D, in his late 40s, introduced a girl(S), 21 to me. but when i talk to S. she seems more interested in D. when D talks, i saw S's eyes sparkle. D is married with 2 kids. and the family know S. this is complicated.

it's not complicated at all. it's not like you're in a relationship with S. Even if you are, the answer is simple, move onto someone who's available.

My eyes light up when my married uncle speaks, and I think he's fabulous. Doesn't mean anything but that.

 

I wouldn't turn potential new friendships into a competition. That keeps you living in your own mind, and it makes you lousy friendship material.
