KIDD
In the past week I've been called in for two job interviews with two different stores. Right now I'm in college and I'm looking for any job right now that will make me some income. I got called in for an interview with Walmart & Kroger a day apart last week. I went in for both interviews which went extremely well , my only concern is that I wasn't honest with both companies about being offered another job. I personally felt that I needed to hold onto both just in case if one interview didn't go well, I could rely on the other. This week I got calls back from both companies and both offered me to come in for drug tests which I took. The Walmart position pays a dollar more than the position offered to me at Kroger. The only thing with Walmart is that it's kind of far from where I live, and I would be wasting money in putting gas in my car just to get out there. Kroger is like literally right around the corner from where I stay.I don't really have to travel far at all. The Kroger job is more convenient for me in terms of traveling and I really don't think I'll miss the extra dollar more which was offered at Walmart.Like I said, it would be wasted on gas money anyway. Plus another con with Walmart is the position is overnight and I'm not too thrilled about working overnight either. So I'm really hoping Kroger will call me back and I'll just decline the Walmart offer.. My only concern is that should I have been honest and let both companies know that I was offered another opportunity or was it best to keep my mouth shut about it? I mean I passed both interviews and I just got through with both drug tests for both companies. Do you think that Walmart and Kroger will find out about each other and would it conflict in anyway of me being hired with either company?? I know I would have to make a decision and decline one which most likely looks like Walmart due to personal reasons. Maybe I'm being worried about nothing... I'm kinda confused about this.. CaptainNapalm
You made the right move. You definitely don't have to tell companies you've got other job interviews lined up. Do you think that you were the only person interviewed for your position? Do you think your potential employer would tell you he's got another three people he's interviewing after you? He wouldn't so you definitely don't have to. It's common knowledge in the business world. I would definitely take the job at Kroger over Wallmart. Not only will the gas money cost you the extra dollar you would have made hourly but "time" is extremely important especially if you're a student. Getting to work quickly in the middle of everything else in my opinion is essential. Working night shift is a nightmare so I wouldn't even bother with that. Congrads on the new job. Take Krogers and you did the right thing. Link to comment

I definitely will be choosing the Kroger position. I know working at a store like Kroger is nothing to rag on about, but at least I can say I'm unemployed now.. I'm pretty sure I got the job since I don't take drugs of any kind and I've already went through an interview. Link to comment

Crazy how they do drug testing there for you guys. In Canada it's unheard of. Link to comment
Jd1983
Congratulations! I wouldn't worry about not mentioning it to Kroger, I highly doubt they will be able to check up on it anyways. You did the right thing. Link to comment
KIDD
Ok Walmart called me today to tell me to come in for orientation tomorrow but I still haven't heard from Kroger as of yet to go in. Do you think I should still go in for orientation tomorrow with Walmart or should now be the time I tell them that I have another job offer and I would like to take that instead. I don't know how I should go about telling Walmart that I have another job offer that's more convenient for me. I'm pretty sure that Kroger will call since they've already done the drug test for me, I'm just waiting to hear back from them. Link to comment
